Actually, Beta Aivins can't be bought for $50 unless second hand. The lowest priced ones are around $65, so you might wanna save up a bit more. Beta Aivins are certainly better-sounding and more durable (made of metal) as compared with Behringers.

Danelectros are nice too, but made of plastic so a bit fragile...

well.. save a bit more and get a better overdrive unit..
ebenex is having their christmas sale now.. perhaps you can take a look at their rocktron sonic glory for a mild overdrive?
for the threadstarter, save a bit more, get an uber metal at 100 bucks, second hand that is..

Haha no hope of getting a new Line 6 Uber metal at less than $150! But its possible to get a 2nd hand one at maybe $80 if you're lucky.
