for that low 15 watt, i'd go for randall. Marshall is crap.

i'm a Roland CUBE fan myself but i won't recommend the 15, i'd rather you save up for a 30 or make do with the microCUBE.

yeah man, i mean i dont know, imo, marshall avt is an upgrade. nopt mg15. its like jumping down.

IMO you shouldn't go for the hybrid (marketing purpose only) AVT series. Go for a real full-tube amp like the Epi Valve Jr combo or Fender Pro juniors. They might cost a little more (maybe less even) but will be worth keeping much longer.

the tubes blowing on a tube amp is inevitable.
however, if you know how to maintain a tube amp you can
minimise the rate of your tubes blowing.
eg. like warming the tubes before you start playing, cooling it down
before switching it off, also the volume etc.

IMO, go tube if you wanna upgrade. Since amp is the most integral part of the sound chain, why compromise? .....(it never ceased to amaze me people on this forum would spend $$$ on pedals....to plug into their cheapo solid state amp!) :smt017
Take note, once tube...always tube. You'll be so attuned to the "tubey" sound, you'll never look back at solid state or hybrid again. And the next amp you be upgrading: a bigger better tube! :wink:

the best small Marshall i've come across (in terms of tone) is the Mini Stack:
is owning a tube amp the ultimate answer to tone nirvana? not quite- it's what works for you, tube or otherwise. tube superiority is a personal philosophy. they are tops in terms of warmth but solid state units excel in individual note clarity.
will tubes blow inevitably? no. it depends on how you treat them. i've played the following tube amps without the tubes giving way:
*Marshall DSL401
*Peavey Ultra Plus
