Rally Guitars

I have heard alot about rally guitars like, some of them actually sounding better than epiphones and other more expensive electric guitars. I myself would like to find out more, so i googled it but there are very little results, they are not on wiki either... so just asking if anyone here has owned a rally before or knows anything about them(like suitable for what kind of music etc.) to maybe share about it? Thanks.

From what I understand, Rally guitars are the in-house interpretation of the single-cut by one of the factories that used to make Epiphone guitars.

I personally own a GL-300, and I would say its a decent guitar for that price, as for the part about the guitars sounding better than epiphones and more expensive guitars, its subjective. Mine plays and sound better than some epiphones I've tried, but I have yet to play a more expensive single-cut that sounds worst than my Rally. So best bet would be to try out the guitars(within the same price range) and make a comparison for yourself.

As for what kind of music the guitar is suitable for, I don't think you can really pinpoint an exact genre. I used mine for blues and rock but I'm sure you can play all kinds of music given the right equipment/pedals/amps etc...

we do need to get round the notion of evaluating an instrument in being 'better' than _______________ (insert guitar brand name), over the years, many lesser knowns have surfaced & proved their worth. Rally & UNO are just 2 of them. i've ditched the brand name-quality association because a good instrument should be appraised beyond its brand name goodwill. we do know too well that some fore bearers of good guitar craftsmanship had things to hide; we just need to know where to look...

anyway, here's my account of the GL300 after trying it back in 2008: http://theguitaraddict.blogspot.com/2008/08/rally-gl-300.html

pertaining to instrument-music genre suitability, there isn't a sure formula, only what works for the musician. to me, it's a personal preference; my Telecaster is adept at delivering black metal as well as my Ibanez, i haven't been arrested for using a 'wrong' guitar for certain manifestations, don't think it'll ever happen.

My buddy has been using his Rally 'LP' guitar for more than a year now. I would say that it's not a bad sounding guitar but, I would also not say that it's an excellent axe that can be comparable to a more expensive Epiphone. I find it that the tuners are not that good, my buddy constantly tunes his guitar in between songs. The pickups are dull... dead sounding.. just too muffled to my ears. You get what you pay for basically for a 300++ dollars guitar BUT... DON'T GET ME WRONG... I believe once you replace the tuners, pickups and tone pots, it can really do sound good.

that happens to me when i play my Gibson LP Standard... & how much does this guitar cost? pfffttt...

my buddy uses the les paul copy for his main axe. changed the pickups to some emgs. it sounds great. also, love how it looks.

Played a rally at SV upon hearing good reviews. Couldn't stay in tune.
Benefit of the doubt : it's a bad set.

I think its a result of some good/bad tuners. Mine used to go out of tune every time I bend the strings... Having a feeling that the guitar was worth the cash, I swapped the stock tuners and bridge for Grovers... Since then I never had any tuning issues.
