Hi i'm looking for a quiet CPU casing to put inside my room where i do my recording mostly micing of acoustic guitar any reccomendations of quiet cpu casing?

Hi i have checked out the ANtec series and the Antec SOnata 2 comes to my mind...any idea where i can purchase that in singapore?

sim lim square.. one of the shops on the 5th or 6th floor.

i have the original antec sonata (3 years old now) and its still working great.

yup its preeetty silent.. good enuff for recording. Sensitive condenser mics might still pick up a slight hum tho..

Besides the casing, u gotta think about the cpu fan as well as the graphics card fan cause these are main noise generators also. Try to get a graphics card which is fanless. For cpu fan, I'm using a zalman 7000alcu heatsink, the one that looks like a flower.. quiet and efficient.

I also put in an extra large low rpm cooling fan in front of my harddisk drives. The key is to choose large, low rpm fans cause these are much quieter than small high rpm fans.. Antec makes these as well.

Motherboards from Asus also have got a fan speed throttling feature which throttles down the cpu fan when heat is at acceptable levels.

best of luck in your search..

cheers

what i used to do is take heaps of blanket/towel/thick cloth to cover my cpu right before I record (will heat up your PC easily!!) , then take off as soon as i stop recording. temporary fix.

theres no sure way to make the pc silent.
u can get silent fans, or better still water cooling..
or acoustic foam to dampen sound.
the main bulk of the sound comes from the hdd and psu and fans.
so its best to get something that has little or no moving parts at all.

unfortunately yep. your best bet is still isolating it into another room or some (WELL VENTILATED!) cupboard or something. otherwise, the remaining noise, like what I do in mobile recording @ jam studios (while the guys are outside laughin/playing XBox) : noise gate.
