if you are using windows, then www.powertabs.net
download tabs (in powertab format) of your favourite songs and learn them, cos that's the direction you would want to head towards. It has MIDI playback which means they "play" the tabs out for you to hear. Much more useful than conventional tabs. A non-free alternative is guitarpro.

for praise and worship songs, "blues" pentatonic (do a google search) works quite well. I'd suggest you work on vibrato, cos stale lead lines in worship songs just spoil the atmosphere IMO.

If your "i've finished leaning major scale and pentatonic" means you've finished learning the scales in ONE position, then you really haven't finished learning. Not that you have to la, if you familiarise yourself with how the different notes in a scale sound relative to each other, then can just whack, haha.

As for licks, there a bunch of them at your disposable when you type "guitar licks" in google.

And finally, LP/strat, it really depends on your personal preference. Some people just love chunky necks, which I can't get used to. Some people can't stand super thin necks, which I love. But whatever you have, just make full use of it. The best football players started off without boots. haha.

thx for the replies by darf and 8fingermadness....er..regardin the "you've finished learning the scales in ONE position, then you really haven't finished learning."....i haf finished learning the 5 position n i can use them le...but i wanna learn some more...coz i heard of "mode" which i can't really find the full position...i know there are 7 modes but for wat i found, i can only c 1 position pattern for each mode...can i assume tat there are 5 position for individual mode like G major scale got 5 position...
hope i dun sound confuse..

that's good, linked them up yet?

anyway, I'm not the best person to preach about modal theory.
http://www.theorylessons.com/modal.html
This site should take up abit of time! (not sure if it's useful, I googled it)
If you want more, google "guitar modal theory" instead of "modes". Some sites tailor theory to guitarists and that's where you wanna go! hope it's useful, if not someone else can chip in.
