Hello! Im not sure about some stuff on pickups.

1. When i change pickups, do i need to change both? Or can i change 1 of them only?

2. Can all pickups fit any kind of guitars? Like can a single-coil fit into an LP?

thanks. :D

no

yes

no

lp uses humbuckers. i dont see any way your single coil can sit inside the mount without moving about. one way to have single coil in your lp is to split a hb.

You can use a StewMac conversion part.

Its basically a ring to fit single coils in a humbucker slot.

It can be done.

since jony pointed it out, having a single coil on a lp is possible. i might wanna add that the questions about pots values might come into place as well. generally 500k for hb and 250k single. so if u really wanna change to single coil in a lp, that means u have to change new pots(or add resistors to the old one) as well. 500k on single coil for vol dont really kill the highs as much as u roll down. but to each his own, listen for yourself and see what u like.

anybody can give a crash course on how to change the pickup and which brand is advisable for a 200 dollars budget?

Check Seymour Duncan website - Seymour shows you how to change a pickup on a strat and on a tele on one of the videos.

if u have to change one set of pickups - SD calibrated set would come into mind.

Seymour Duncan.

Try the Custom/Jazz set.

Its good to go from metal to blues rock and of course clean stuff.

Use additional push pull pots for splitting.

I would suggest A Dimarzio Paf Pro (neck) and Tone Zone (Bridge) that if the body of your guitar is basswood. Paf Pro gives you the "grrr" sound in any metal music you play. It just sounds wonderful. While Tone Zone can be just a tiny bit muddy but some people like it that way since Paf Pro gives you the opposite, i.e nice metal rhythm but also a nice clear lead tone when playing solo. Best alternative for Tone Zone is Air Zone since Air Zone can give you a clean sound when playing clean and nice not muddy metal sound when playing with overdrive.

refer to um.... the gibson website on the types of humbuckers tt go into different guitars.

hope this helped
