punk rock is freedom!!!!!! but what do you fellow punks think of simple plan and good charlotte? are the they actual punk? they've defintitely swayed away from the whole anarchy in the uk thing. when was the last time you heard a punk band with actual roots to the ramones or the clash? perhaps green day?

i think different genres of music only allow you to express a certain portion of your emmotions...

it would be wrong to say blues is freedom or punk is freedom...
blues is generally about sadness , and punk is about oppression....
i would believe music in general is true freedom.

Punk band now are control by coporates to write their music. I don't think that is freedom. But underground punk bands shows more freedom in their music but never mainstream punk bands.

i guess punk rock has no real definition.

but here's mine. it's saying "FUCK YOU" to whoever's in charge of you with no fear and the hell with all the trends and fads.

that's what i think has been lacking in today's "punk" and even music in all.

come on, will we ever see simple plan saying "it's ANARCHY BABYYYY!!!"

hell no.

That's the way punk rock should be. Oppose everything what others agree. Be out of the social norm. But sadly little people knows the real meaning of punk rock. Screw pop punk!!!

Normally , logical anarchists or real punks sing these songs some with a degree of rationality and realism. those that do not a often pure commerical crap. dont u realise ? american media culture has alot of influence on asking us to rebel . look at matrix or spiderman as a case in point , the hero is always oppressed by the social system and struggles with the social system . media culture wants us to think that we are oppressed and encourages us to "go against" it . so much so tt it has been embedded across mainstream society.

so are you really beliving in the music ? or has punk sold out to mindless commercialism. Poltical statements in music is not uncommon , think megadeth , rage against the machine. Those are hard music groups who started out with the idea of playing the music and spreading their opinion . i feel that punk groups for most , think of spreading more of their opinion and earning $ . music is secondary.

music is self expression. not commercial sell outs

punk rock used to be about rebellion. Its the people's music, rebelling for the people, and so inessence its about freedom. And its still is. rock against bush

when was the last time you heard a punk band with actual roots to the ramones or the clash?

try american hi-fi. www.americanhi-fi.com

oh yea any heard sum41's new album chuck?

WAH!! 8O You all so cheem ah??? I also cheem lor..........

To me, all music is a gift, a box of 'choclette' (remember forrest gump??). How you interpret it will lead to certain attitude and beliefs. Different genres will lean towards certain doctrines in the lyrics. Just like religon, it's the interpretation that make up all the diffferent factions and seperations.

I listen to varied kind of music, at some junction into all kind of metals. Yeah, there is lyrics with strong dark words and description. But if you take it as a form of learning and warning against what is "bad", you come out on top of it. But if you mellow in what is the anti, the 'angst', the 'oppression', and think that the whole world is against you. Then I got one thing to say, no one is going against you, you are going against yourself.

Yeah, punk may lean towards rebellion and arnachy in the lyrics. But if you take it as a warning instead, it'll do you good. If you wallow into rebellion and going against the system. Think about it, in the first place if people were to really revolt against you, how would you feel. Don't do onto others what you don't want to be done against yourself.

We are living in a very free age, Freedom today is where it never was before. So how much freedom is too much??

Remember, 99% of the people will not come to you and criticise on how you dress, sing or talk. If they don't like it, likely they will just stay clear, at least they should have the rights to stay away from things they don't like, wouldn't you? Are you going just going to rebel against that 1%. It'll look real dumb & childish if you do.

music isnt abt getting ur way neither izzit abt minset. music is abt expression n the things closest to ur heart. its wat u play when u go through a certain phase. dun get this wrong.
