PRS SE singlecut

for a guitar hobbyist, playing for fun..do you guys think buying a full-fledged PRS guitar (non-se ones, not that the ses are crap) is worth it?

any guitar purchase with maximum returns to the buyer is definitely worth it. 8-)

i own a PRS McCarty but i don't play in a band, mostly satisfying my musical inclinations at home jamming with a drum machine. so why bother buying a $3k+ guitar when nobody sees me play? because each of my guitars inspire me differently, regardless of how much they cost, what they look like.

Sorry to interrupt, but is there much difference between the SE singlecut and custom 22 ? The SE singlecut is easier to play on right ? Since there's a carved top ? Hmm. Can't decide between the two ! :???:

curved top = easier to play? no. it's what the overall guitar design has to offer to the player. playability factors cover much more than the body's top design nature. when it comes to the picking hand, the bridge also plays a part in this determination. 8-)

damn bird inlays are the bomb..if only they have it on their SEs.

Let's face it, only because we can afford it, doesn't mean we deserve it right? lol

i've never taken an interest to PRS guitars mainly cos of the price tags..
but i just tried my fren's prs...its quite a feel i have to say...
the prs 305...

affordability issues aside- when do we deserve a certain guitar?
When we've worked our #$%^#$%^ off hard for the past year with absolutely NO GAS and purchses... Then that Les Paul Historic is looking mighty awesome...

Which is my situation now... INCOMING!!!!

I was never into PRS until I found out Nick Catanese moved there from Washburn. The fact that because of him, EMG signed a deal with PRS makes it kinda awesome.

Too bad the SC250 and SC245 are dicontinued though, I would love to have saved my money on one high end guitar like that. It's also the only Les Paul shaped guitar they have that probably beats the original. In terms of playability with the set neck I mean, its slightly slanted for better fret access

Interesting question. Personally, I base it on my playing skills. Even though I've performed a number of times and have been playing for years, I still think my playing skills aren't good enough to deserve a PRS or any other expensive guitar.

on matters pertaining to whether we deserve a certain guitar, it shouldnt be based on personal finances. while funding ascertain the material attainment, deserving a guitar shouldn't hinge on personal achievements. there are too many bands out there, especially the ones on TV, who are merely strumming their guitars- do they deserve a $5K instrument to get this job done?

A rough idea is that Squiers are sister companies of Fender, Squier produces guitar models that are roughly the same to the untrained eye, but actually the hardware used and workmanship differs quite largely. Most of the parts used are sourced from cheaper areas around the world, but there are definitely good ones out there if you look just hard enough. The Squiers that were produced in the 90s are definitely worth it, and can give MANY Fenders out there a run for their money. I'm sure many of us here can vouch for that:cool:

Epiphone now has their factories in China, although their QC may be more jialat than as compared to when produced Korea, they are definitely improving, so don't hesistate to give them a shot.

Sidenote-> The PRS SE versions are more affordable and they were targeted at those who wanted a good instrument but don't want the sexy price tag that comes along with it.

If you wanna know more, just google~ Don't be lazy!

Keep in mind though epiphone has adjustable bridge, seperate volume and tone knobs and the pickup selector on the top

The PRS SE has one volume and one knob and the pickup selector close to the knobs

also PRS SE has a flat top

Except for the Tremonti SE though, it has seperate tone and volume knobs and a pickup selector on the upper bout. BUT its a signature guitar lol not everybody wants to go onstage with somebody else's guitar
