I need help! i wanna get a good guitar priced around 500 dollars... I'm interested in the Ephiphone LP and Ibanez Sa120....
Good choice??
Also dunno whether to buy 1st hand or second hand...
I wanna get a reasonably good one so i no need to change for a while.. Thanks for the help!!

SA120 is decent but it doesn't feel & sound as good as the SA260. also, the latter has a nice foto-top which accounts for the higher price. (it's slightly more than $600...)

the Epi & Ibanez SA are in 2 diff turfs, the former being a set-neck construction & will give off a diff tone. if you insist on an ibanez counterpart which compete closely with the Epi, the SZ models would be a deserving candidate... 8)

im no where near pro but i've bought enough shit to know that you need to follow these steps.

Get second hand.

MOST IMPORTANT !! be patient. if you have to get it .....
NEVER NEVER buy when you are "hot" for something... when the heat dies you will be stuck with something you dun really like.

save up enough money. dun save up $600 then buy a $700 sub-standard guitar brand new... and suffer the next 2 months etc.... Always save up more then you need. must be discplined when you buy stuff.... you save alot of money that way... and you will be much happier with the equipment you own.

Heys.. Thanks for the help... I'm no where near pro too.. LOL.... obviously.. anyway anyone know the price of a Epiphone LP Black Beauty 3? Its beautiful.. lol

i believe it's excel trading or something like that. Excel something, also called Ranking Sports. it's a sports shop at bras basah complex. either same floor or one floor down from swee lee. they have musical instruments in there too.

not sure if luther still deals godin though.. my cousin bought a godin radiator from him some years back.

black beauty is about 800 , the epiphone lp series cost around 600-700 depending on its colour, not much price diff btw classic or std version.
Judging from the condition of those guitars in sweelee(unless is a brand new shipment), yes its better to get a 2nd one, at least from some1 who know how to maintain his guitars. Most of the time u can easily find a 2nd hand guitar that is in so much better condition then those 1st hands in swee lee or any other shops. and cheaper as well.
i'm using an epiphone lp standard gold top, its great for playing leads and solos, the tone is simply awesome, it can imitate the nothing else matter's tone pretty well..

hope that helps.

Hmms..

I asked my friend who's quite pro.... he said that epiphone Les paul series not gd.... hmmmm... he helped me try the ibanez sa120 and said tt its much better.... i dun think i can get a sa160... too eX!!....

IMHO buying a guitar is a very personal thing. You should try it our urself, and feel it for yourself, because ultimately u are the owner of the guitar. As they say 1 man's ceiling is another man's floor.

vai : a 1st hand epi lp classic cost abt 600 at swee lee, logically speaking.... an an epi lp 100 shuld cost below 500. I'm not so sure about the exact price, the last time i went they're outta stock.

hmmmm

Yea... i know i should try myself but i sorta a newbie.... i cant really tell the difference.... so i asked my fren :S... thanks for the advice peeps.... hmmm..... still dunno which one to buy..... ?_?

there are indeed many many choices available in singapore... but i do agree picking a guitar is very personal... so you gotta try around... else opt for the "safe" options... meaning get those popular models... cos you will be able to sell them easier later and upgrade to a better one.. which normally those popular models can't really satisfy a better player but they satisfy the mass market. :)
