Hey just wanted to know what you guys used for recording your band songs etc.

I use Sony Acid Pro 6.0. Teehee ;)

Heard the garage is a very good software for recording band songs but it can only be used for Macs :(

Thanks for replying the posts guys. ! Cheers!

Cool Edit Pro

I use Cool Edit Pro 2.1 Its similar to acid only that it has extra features. Like metronome. And if u guys want to make computer music. Reason is the best software i think.

yeah i use acid pro too. but the only problem is that i can't seem to add any effects to the tracks once i'm done. like reverb etc. can't find it, or is there any at all?

i use fruity loops also, for computer music and stuff :)

i did a video of a cover of my curse here with acid pro

Some other software you can check out are Logic (Mac users), and Neuendo. These are both good options for recording and mixing band performances

Hehehe, I'm using Audacity too. But my dad's probably getting a Mac soon. So i might switch to Garageband. Or maybe Cubase. Is it idiot-proof?

Garageband is a great DAW (if you can call it that!). Got me into software recording when previously i was using an all-in-one Digital Multitrack Recorder (Zoom MRS1044 - great unit!) And its simple to use, especially since you're familiar with Audacity. :D

Bad thing is, you can only have one tempo per project/song. (The '06 version that is, not sure if the '08 version is the same though...) And also, it don't support VST plugins natively, it supports AU, which is quite scarce for FREEWARE.

I use Reaper (www.reaper.fm) for recording, into Adobe Audition for waveform editing

I'm quite interested in Reaper too! Its loaded into my Mac, but i've not used it yet... ;) And i love the fact that it supports a whole range of plugin types (AUs, VSTs, etc...)
