Products price raised?

Here is a link to a page cached by google in August 2009.

Here is a link to one of the latest products pages.

There are some similar products. However, take for example the Parkwood 320M, the price was raised from about 680 to about 860.

Why so? It's not a smart move in my opinion, especially considering that sales are near. Unnecessary suspicion will be raised. :???:

i admit, i didnt take notice of the prices haha. i guess thats a good marketing strategy to fool ppl like me. :(

but then again, i think alot of stores do that, not just swee lee. not that i'm protecting swee lee (i dun really like that shop)

why create a new account to post this thread? afraid to be flamed?

hehe. just kidding. =) peace!

i didnt create a new account to post this thread. I've been following this forum' guitar-buy/sell section for a long time. just never found the need to post anything. And why would i join so long ago just to post now?

Err... your join date says Oct 2009 which is just last month, considering today is 1st Nov 2009...

But that aside, it is true. The prices are hiked for Cort models.

Do you have any other cache on the other brands to provide a stronger argument that SweeLee did indeed hike price for most of their products?

well you could check my profile. My join date is 10/10/09.

Anyway, here are links to their ibanez acoustics.

Here are the new prices. One of the price differences is for AW120ECE.

Anyway, you can just google for a specific model that they carry, show more results, and go to the cached pages. Like this. Remember to show more results.

Perhaps, musicinvitation would be a better person to answer this question of price hike since he is the online rep for SweeLee Co.

I know I once viewed the Jack Cassidy Bass. Was a lot cheaper, then it was raised to $1k. Then they raised the price again. Don't know why though, could be because Gibson increased the price, so they also increased the price on the guitars bought before that as well

The "hike-the-price-before-50%-sale" thing is an open secret. Many seasoned and regular shoppers already know about it. However, you're the first person who actually investigate and posted links as evidence! :D

Anyway, this thread will be locked in no time...because James doesn't like people to "disturb" his sponsors. ;)

=guitarsan

actually i didn't really investigate. I just happened to be shopping for a new guitar and was checking on second hand prices while referring to their site for original prices.

I'm not a Singaporean so naturally I was more cautious when doing my research.

Since this thread will potentially be locked. Well, here.

Based on this the web price is lower than the retail price and the discounts seem to apply on the retail price. If the same principles apply, web price < retail price. Higher web price < Higher retail price. So err, how much you can actually save by paying 10 bucks to enter I don't know.

Of course, I have excluded the possibility that they changed the web price to retail price, which is something reasonable for them to do.

And, Singapore has consumer rights so I believe a sale is a sale. You'll definitely save. Just maybe not as much as you think you can. Please take what I said with a pinch of salt. After all, these are all claims. Moreover, I might've misread some info too.

Even if this thread get locked, at least you've opened out your opinion bro.

But let's give SL the benefit of doubt. What is the market prices have really gone up. Just like what happened to Fender prices late last year or early this year (can't recall when).

Thank you Neuro for feedbacking this issue.

To clear the air here,
Previously the online website offered a 20% off our usual Retail List Price for Online Store promotion.
Due to alot of confusion by online buyers who mistaken the discounted price as the Retail List price, we had decided to revamp them to Retail List price instead.

There DEFINITELY hadn't been a hike on the prices and regulars can verify our prices.

* Retail List Price are prices suggested by Manufacturers and Tagged on the products if you visit the showroom. They are different from 'Discounted Offers'.

Hope this clear the air and for further verification, you may contact our sales staff in the showrooms or even PM me.

Thank you guys for the time and let's keep this forum free from Rumours as there are many readers that may be mislead by this.

Lastly, there hadn't been a hike even for events such as 50% Year End or Mid Year Sale.
Sometimes prices differs over the months can be due to Manufacturers' cost increase or sometimes even the GST increase (for previous Sale Issues).

We will be glad to assist you in any way should you find there are price discrepencies in our showrooms.

Thank you guys for your time. :)
