with the knowledge of cables in general, males n females r basically connectors/linking ports. Example u have a usb cable 5 metres long, bt u need 10 metres. So u grab a female extension of another 5 metres, n ur original one (male), connect it to a female. And together u have a 10 metre long cable.

Basically, in very crude and uhh biological terms.....

A Male interface is one with a jack or um phallic looking object, while a Female interface has a corresponding hole which fits the jack.

Haha, I wonder who came up with the idea of the Male/Female interface

ok in this case i think itz most likely u need to get a male to connect it to the input. hey y dont u check out the user manual. i'v seen these xlr ports in some jamming places. bt judging frm the device u can just go to a music accessory store n ask for a normal decent microphone cable

Okay abt recording keyboards through the firebox....what if my keyboard only has MIDI I/O but no SPDIF....how? MIDI out on keys to MIDI in on Firebox? Can?

the FireBox uses a combo input in front. within the same plug, you can insert a XLR or TS/TRS (aka 1/4 inch).

the input at the back is a TS/TRS only.

For microphone, you connect it to the front input.

For keyboard, you can connect it to the back input. There should be a Line-out from your keyboard?

* If you are interested to get the FireBox, let me know, I am trying to ask the local distributor to give SOFTies a better price.
