precision and Jazz

do you listen to Bloc Party? their bassplayer Gordon Moakes has a classic P Bass sound. the sorta "punch" that's in there and i would also decribe it as "rounder".

the jazz basses tend to have more "growl" because of the bridge pickup and has that sort of single coiled attack.

meh.. haha, i hope that helps. perhaps someone else could go into the mechanics of all this because i'm not. -)

i grew up on RHCP lah... maybe thats why i is biased.

my next bass will hopefully be an old P.

No biased its the truth...Stingey is top on my list ....

i enjoy both! that's why i got me a P-J with a precision body! :D

but back to his question. the most obvious difff between jazz and precision is the pickups. jazz basses have double single coils and the precision bass have a split coil pickup. :D

i remember asking this question when i started out 9 months ago and i got really good help from someone whose name or ID is ken or something :?

anyways, bloc party owns!!! :D

i think comparing a stingray to a precision or jazz is kinda like comparing chocolate and strawberries? i mean, all three sound so different..

at the end of the day, i'd like one of each. haha -)

ayee.. i might get a sterling just because it's much smaller than the stingray really! but that won't be happening in the next year, soo.. back to the drawing board -)
