Dis clip is a link of Dave Mustain talkin abt his injury dring damiddle part of da clip. (2.20 mins onwards)

plz share ur experience n how u managed to heal ur injuries.

Thank You

No vid bub. Anyway his injury was caused by the way he slept not his playing.

There was a period of time (about a year or so back) where I was playing my guitar quite low ala Kirk, a little below crotch, all the while it was affecting my thumb but I didn't realise it.
Gradually it got worse and I began feeling pain around the base of my thumb, there was an agonizing pain whenever I tried to rotate it. At first I shurgged it off thinking it would go away, but still it remained for weeks.

Eventually I made my way to the doctor's on my mum's insistance(albeit with lots of complaining from me), who told me I got De Quervain's Tensynovitis or Tendonitis I can't really recall. He said I had been straining the muscles for too long at one time, plus the low slung guitar. He gave me a jab at the base of the thumb, I felt abit numbed like some plastic had been injected into my hand. He told me to rest for at least a week before playing, but of course having itchy hands I went to play after about 3 days' rest. About 2 months later the pain came back. This time I heeded his advice and rested longer, and up till today no problems have cropped up. Hopefully not, choi!

Oh and I sling my guitar a wee bit higher now and don't play for too long.

Moral of the story: Sling higher, take breaks after playing for an hour or so to prevent repetitive strain injury and ALWAYS ALWAYS LISTEN TO THE DOCTOR.

tried once to do yngwie flip guitar stun but the headstock of my guitar hit my back, for my case i think i should not try to do any more tricks

Cut your finger nails properly!

This happened to my toe, and it made me regret and try to take care of my fingers now(Well, somehow inter-related).

Few months back had an ingrown toe nail, it was horrible, VERY horrible.

To cut things short, read up on how to cut your nails properly, I'm not kidding. Imagine your fingers have ingrown nails, and to an extend you need to go for a surgery(happened to me), YOU CAN'T PLAY GUITAR FOR MONTHS!!

So everytime when I cut my finger nails, I cut with care. Once in awhile the flesh at the side of your nail will hurt, it is hinting that the way you cut your nails are wrong!

injury

hi.i have an injury to my wrist.its like something coming out of the wrist like a bone.now my right wrist(which is injured) looks different from my left wrist which is normal 8O and it feels painful when i rotate it 360.should i see a doctor?

yeah low slinging, tires my shoulder...but i just cnt stop it...its feels so good...coz i can dance and shit with a low slung guitar...:P

but at what cost? a dislocated shoulder? BROKEN SHOULDER? SHATTERED? ok i'm going too far... maybe rheumatism.

Geez, how do you guys hurt your fingers playing low? I could feel the strain in my wrist, thumb and fingers halfway through a song while playing middle-high(Slash level)...low for me!

haha yah lol read this people

for anyone who witnessed what took place at the show in san diego last night and yet is still somewhat confused:

during our second song david was struck in the face with mikes bass mid swing.although that seems like something that is quite normal and not too rare the results were actually quite catastrophic.david was knocked out for longer than previous times this has happened.when he awoke he was spitting blood out in large amounts.we cleaned him up only to find that a hole had been ripped in his cheek.it basicly looks as though he was pierced with a serrated knitting needle.in 100% honesty it was a pretty brutal site.somehow he managed to get up and finish the set but by the end the whole right side of his face was swolen to the point where he could barely open his right eye.he was taken to the hospital immediately.he was treated and received a cat scan and was prescribed some pretty heavy antibiotics and heavy painkillers.it turns out because of the hole, air had gotten into his skin and puffed him out all the way from his collar bone up to above his eye socket.its early now and david has just woken up but his exact quote was "i feel like 200 pounds of bird shit".it hurts for him to swallow and needless to say hes pretty bummed out.he is unsure of whether he will be able to play tonight.we as a band hate canceling shows more than anything and david is the last to stand down because of pain, but if it hurts him bad enough to where he doesnt think he can do it his safety comes first.well try and keep you updated and we apoliogize in advance if we cannot play tonight.again,we will only not play if it is 100% detrimental to davids health.remember, it is a hole in his face that you could fit a small rodent through.its not a scratch.thankyou for understanding and enjoy the rest of the bands!

adam and fearbefore

haha tt's sick, makes u think twice abt 'ah i wanna have some fun tonight!' aye...

metal bands rule with their weird and perilous stage antics!

my strap is getting shorter ....makin way up the buldge

Right now my right hand wrist is killing me :(

i believe having the right 'warm up' method and actually doin it before jam or gig would help ....being carefull while playin too ....ya right as if we don't get carried away

ahha yeah. sling higher abit also easier to play, less strenous when doin more technical stuff....

i wouldn't sacrifice playing just to look good. :)
