hi i'm a newbie planning to get a guitar after my exams ...
i'm very perplexed about what type of guitar i should be getting
so i'm here to ask for all for your opinions !

i was thinking about getting a Fender standard stratocaster which will cost about $700 bucks
without amp , effect etc .
Just asking for ur opinions on what u think about the stratocaster . And i would like to ask about it's plus and flaws as well .
The sort of songs i'll be playing are the MCR , Simple Plan , Ax7 sort of music
or do u have any brands or particular model u would reccomend :)

Also just asking i intend to take lessons at yamaha and just asking for ur thoughts and opinions about learning there . Or anyother places if better !

Thanks alot in advance !;)
your help is greatly appreciative .

Well, I'm like you, gonna be playing that sorta stuff after my exams... Just that I'm starting with a Gibson les Paul Studio (Big budget :p) ...

I'm not sure, but I went to do some searching, and according to other people, anything used for rock should have at least one humbuckler. (Which explains my choice of guitar )

neeeed some help here ! what do u guys think about me getting a strat ?
oh ya i think the strat standard doesn't have a humbucker as i don't see it on the specs any confirmation ?

I think it's SSS aka. 3x single coil. Try looking for HSS, 1x Humbuckler, 2x Singlecoil.

MCR uses the Gibson Les Paul Standard, 2x humbuckler. (out of your reach, and mine aswell:p)

MIM Fender Standard Stratocasters are available in HSS configurations.

and no, just because it's rock doesn't mean a humbucker should be used :) too many living examples to state.

any guitar is fine for rock/ high gain stuff, it's a matter of personal embrace (even if it doesn't sport a humbucker). if you are starting out, it's more important to acquire something you like in terms of feel/ tone. do check out the review section for some appraisals of selected models 8-)

can anyone help me out here by ? reccomending a couple of strats here ?
budget is $7xx
u sure i can find the MIM series in HSS configuration ? does guitar 77 have em ? in HSS configuration ?

if you don't mind the Squier brand name, this Squier is one of the better HSS guitars out there (without costing you an arm or a leg) 8-)

Yes it's MIM. I believe you can get it at 700~

Though, it's more worth it if you go used. You might be able to get a good CIJ for that budget when you buy used guitars.

hey man you should consider mij strats as well. can get from tymc. of course if you don't mind saving up a lil bit more la. yepp

and it's definitely not a must to have a humbucker if you wanna play rock.

if i were to get it first hand where would u think will be possible for me to purchase?
maybe i'll drop by at guitar 77 to check it out

yea..mayb u could google guitar77/davis and get their number..juz a simple call will do..they will name the specifics right on the spot..and lastly, try getting the cij/mij ones as they are way2 better than MIM..japan guitarz rocks! save up or buy 2nd hands,it's worth it!

i was at peninsula today most of the shops actually sells SSS i only saw one shop with HSS but i didn't went in to take a look . i find the choices quite limited actually to be honest .
