Biasing: Randolf or other techs ... (just remember to find out the recommended bias range of the amp and the recommended setting as this differs from amp to amp) ... when having the techs bias, get them to show you how ... some tubes do sway out of bias after a week. Think you just need a multimeter and a screwdriver most times for the amps with external bias adjusters.

Differances are much apparent in construction compared to brand.
By order of gain for preamps
12AX7=100
5751=70
12AT7=60
12AY7=45
12AV7=41
12AU7=20
12BH7=16.5

(Bear in mind that while all these are perfectly safe some produce thinner tone in the place of a 12AX7.)
