Possible to rehouse Marshall MG15 into a pedal?

I have been searching high and low for a pedal that is the sound in my head but to no avail.

Yesterday, I left my pedalboard at a friend's place do I had to play through my practice amp which is a Marshall MG15. Lo and behold, it was exactly what I was looking for! It really surprised me because I've tried all kinds of gain pedals from wampler -> jhs -> weehbo and a lot more but it was what I wanted. It's gain is very low clipping like in a cheap distortion pedal, very little headroom. Just all out hairy distortion.

I know it's weird but I never thought I'd find what I was looking for in a 15W practice amp.

So now comes the question, is it possible to rehouse the gain Channel into a pedal?
Or anyone knows any pedals that sounds like the MG15?

I don't think any multi-efx will have the distortion of mg15.
Mainly you have to do trial and error on the eq for distortion pedals to get similiar sound.
But i must admit that the overdrive channel for mg15 is pretty sweet.

i may be wrong but i think an amp is essentially

preamp -> power section -> speakers

the distortion comes from the preamp. if the circuitry in the preamp can be isolated from the amp you could technically rehouse it into a pedal. but having said that the amp probably contains additional electronics such as power converters to convert the wall power into dc power for the amp. hence, isolatin the preamp wiring inside the amp could prove pretty complex and dangerous.

i think the mg-15 may have a sweet sound when you play it alone but in a band setting it could be a little too thin a.k.a. cant cut through the mix. perhaps you can try the ht-dist or distx pedals from blackstar ? those sound pretty smooth and saturated while having enough clarity to cut through

If you look at the preamp circuitry of a MG15. It is just your basic gain stage..Nothing really special abt it....no different from a TS9 or a DS1. Maybe as they said..the less obstacles (components) you have in your circuit path..the purer the sound??

Where in Hougang are you?

Wow, I didn't know people were replying to my thread, haha!

Well, thanks so much for all the replies. I've found a pedal that is exactly what I want, it's the ibanez sonic distortion mod. Very nice pedal, you guys should check it out if you haven't. It's selling at $139 at swee lee.

Hey fifafu, you are able to create a new unit (pedal) or rehouse it into one?

Why would u want to do that when a modded TS9 or DS1 should sound similar..circuitry are somewhat similiar.

I think the key is the 15V applied to the opamp.

Maybe one of the 18V drive will be good...
