Hi,

I'm keen in learning pop keyboard/piano. But, it makes me wonder the difference between pop keyboard and pop piano.
To me, both seems to be the same.
Can Anyone kindly enlightening me on this fact?

Also, I do not have any basic foundation in music theory.
Which one (between pop keyboard and pop piano) would be more suitable for me? and any school to recommend?
As I'm currently a student and have a certain budget, I would like to get a school which is good and cheap.

Please help me. Thanks you.

Hi Haoyi, I just read your post in the other thread. And i myself have been trained in pop keyboard and i provide lessons too.

Regarding pop keyboard/piano, it depends on your objectives. Are you playing in a band outside your home? Or do you wish to play your favourite tunes at home? If its at home, then i'm sure a pop piano course would suit u more. And if playing in a band or in a gig is what you wan, then pop keyboard is the one.

In fact, both of them are not too different because currently most keyboards come with weighted keys which are similar to piano (but not totally the same).

But nevertheless, i would recommend playing pop keyboard. Afterall, playing pop should allow you to perform in future and you will need a good keyboard to bring around for gigs, but that will be after you have been properly trained :D

anw hope to hear from you soon. i have pm-ed you :D

'pop keyboad' sometimes means having the 'keyboard accomp' button on e.g. you push one key, and the keyboard provides a full chordal accompaniment, whereas pop piano implies that the pianist plays the full accompaniment themselves.

Best to learn the piano way, even if you only own a keyboard. The keyboard way mentioned above is, by professional standards, useless.
