Pls recommend a good starter Ibanez Guitar

According to the reviews, the S series seems a better investment.

i will be going down to Swee Lee soon to check em out.

I have my eye on the SA160 Transparent grey though. Very nice guitar.

Whats the diff between the 160 n 260? Wil the tremelo give me tuning probs?

any guitar would be a good investment if they give you good returns. the S isn't a better guitar than the GAX (i used to own one), they fulfill different needs.

the SA160 is discontinued (WEF 2004) but still available in the stores.

THanks sub. So is there any tonal difference between the 160 n 260? And what is the avg fretboard radius for an ibanez guitar? 14''?

not too much difference in tone between the SA160/ 260. from the 260, i hear more bass. if you opt for the 260, you're paying more for the cosmetic top, which adds zilch to tone.

most Ibanez guitars have a flat radius- 14"

I finally got my hands on the SA260. Surprisingly, the 260 sounds much more brighter n punchier than the 160.

Nice guitar. Thanks guys

the SA series are quite overlooked & it's not a popular model here either. Ibanez is fortunate that Andy Timmons agreed to propel the SA models by modelling his signature unit after the SA outline/ philosophy. the limelight now is with the SZ series, it's Ibanez's best selling model currently.

haha... cos SZ got good clean and distortion... now, who won't want the best of both worlds? Only draw back is no whammy bar and it does not have 24 frets...

the SZ was conceived to be a strictly non-whammy guitar (ibanez has too many whammy models) & 22frets feature was chosen to complement the shorter scale length (25.1"). the SZ is a product of Ibanez's response to market demand; players want a set-neck guitar that's simple & affordable. this year's Duncan Ibanez collaboration is definitely a hit with many.

Seems that SA260 is no longer available and now there is SA360QM? Anyone owns this and how does it compare to the predecessors?

there's no recommended anything when it comes to guitars- it's addressing your own needs :-) in my opinion, if you wish for some versatility in your guitar, consider having both single coil & humbucker options in there. pertaining to the SA series, the SA160 is a good consideration:
