Playing when drunk

I curious to see how many people are able to play drunk, and not miss nots, screw up the speed or forget the notes and things like that.

I was trying last night when playing guitar and I was horrible, couldnt play simple riffs :(

I wanna know how big bands are able to do it, like tallica or pantera.

The riffs and everything else's probably so deeply ingrained and embedded that they could play in their sleep.

yup just be familiar with your material. alcohol makes you loosen up and relax and i find that kind helps with tricky riffs hahaa

Depends how much you've had. You can be loosened up or you can be smashed and misss strings, fall over, not speak properly, like I did the other night :D

i really feel that there is no need to consume aslcohol or smoke in order to play a gig.People pay to watch u perform and give your best, they dont wanna see a band which is all drunk and cant even play properly.

Imagine you call a plumber to your house to fix a pipe and he comes all drunk..would u take hs serveces?

so hope i managed to get my point across.

PS:i dont smoke,drink or gig

cheers

Yeah I get what you mean, but back in the day it was widely accepted, the bay area thrash scene and metal/rock/punk bands getting messed up before a gig.

nowadays it doesnt happen so much.

I've got bootlegs of the tallica boys in their early days with dave - wasted

although drinking and playing.. i might not play that well, but it gives me that "high" feeling i like it actually... but however i would like to stress that i am not telling u guysl to drink and play.... coz drink might harm yr health depending on how much u drink.... :) :) :)

HELL YEAH!

Woke up in the morning with a splitting headache and my guitar still strapped around me. I was playing until i fell asleep. just laying their drifting off to sleep slowly, playing anything until my fingers got slower and slower and damnit its making me sleepy just typing this.

But if it helps with the performance, who cares?

haha, actually u can still play properly after drinking, just that will feel extremely lethargic and distracted...and u...might...just suddenly sit down on the floor to rest whilst playing cos u feel so tired...but forgot that u are actually performing....lol...

yeah becuase everythings delayed, you sorta forget where you are and might play a note too many times or forget how many times you've played a riff.

i know there was a band who was drunk and recorded a song, only having to rerecord everything because they could hear someone puking at the background. GnR i think.

being drunk can help you loosen up.. but before a gig, just 2 shots of vodka good enough.. just enough to loosen up, not enough to make u piss drunk and unable to know whats going on.. unless u have a low tolerance for alcohol

hahaha, it happens.. its not very professional when you can't put on a good show, but hey.. even if you miss a few notes and the punters have fun that night, its all in the name of good fun -)
