Playing the X50 thru the computer

since1982

New member
Hi folks!

I've got the editor software installed and my X50 is able to sync with the software but, the only way i can play sounds is if i plug my earphones directly to the X50 which also means it wouldn't sound if i plug in the earphones to my CPU and play the X50 which is synced to the software..

Is this normal? are there any steps i need to take to get my X50 to sound through my computer? Please share! Thanks! (:

Have you read your manual?
please try to read your manual through properly if you haven't.

The editor program is like what it says ... "editor" ... it function to edit the sound in your X50 and not to play it through ur computer or something.

So the sound of course will only comes out through the X50's out which is either L/R mono out or the headphone jack ....

Audio signal does not go through the USB cable. Only midi data goes through the USB. To get your X50 sound recorded you need to connect your x50 to an Audio interface using standard 1/4" cables.

Signal flow will be

X50 outs ---> Audio interface ins

since1982, why would you want your sounds to go through your PC?

You are not having a soft synth here and with its software editor, you are editing and triggering parameters. The wave samples and sounds of the X50 are in your keyboard, not in your PC. Even when sequencing with your PC, it's MIDI signals triggering the keyboard sounds.

Enjoy your musical journey! :)

so that i can jam with whatever i have in my iTunes? : p
ok i think i get what you mean.. thanks!

you still can jam with anything in your itunes ....

all you need is a mixer =) .... put your comp's audio in there ... put X50 audio in there ... and voila! you can jam! ...

or .. if you already have speaker for your computer ... why don't you just blast it and then you run ur X50 thru another speaker ... that'll do the trick ...

hey thanks all!! i can finally get the C50 to sound thru the comp! (and jam with my itunes! : D
what i did was plug in a 'mini stereo jack/cables' (not sure if i'm calling it by the correct name) and connect it from the headphone jack to the back of the CPU (apparently some kind of line in thingy) and -bingo!- it works!

got that idea from the kind folks at korg forums:

btw when you said 'mixer' do you mean a software or a hardware?

i was talkin about hardware mixer .... =)

Hey piano_ex thanks for bringing this up.. i've been puzzled abt the mixer for some time! what does it really do? does it have many line-in jacks for different instruments and then it consolidates them to one output etc? where do they sell them over here in sg?

thanks btw for your suggestions! (:

Yup, a mixer is basically what you've said just now .... to "mix" =)

to mix several thing together and have the output into, usually stereo (2 mono)

you can check out several type of mixer, depending on your necessity, there are small mixer, there are big mixer with up to 48 channel ...'

i think luther music sells some ....
