playing electronic sets - your opinion please

Bro flam - since you really decided on an Electronic Kit - I will try to help you get one (but old Model - you want?) - maybe all at S$400 to 500 - I'm not sure - The kit is shove away in a Storeroom for a long time - not played but in good condition - I will have to check with him if it's still around - I will let you liase direct with the Owner once he says "OK - he sells"...let me check it up 1st for you.

This way you have everything complete - at low price..

RudimentalDrummer: That'll be great! but which model is it? help me check? thanks!

marc: i've been reading the vdrums forum but i din know that jman has a website. will check it out later.

elevenine: i concur regarding the DM5. its way overpriced. the triggerIO on the other hand sells for only $295. weird. anyway i think the TD-3 sounds are pretty decent, should be better than DM5.

electronic kits have their pros and cons.

i use a roland TD-3KW and have been using it for more than half a year but i still would prefer an acoustic set any day. the TD-3KW, i just find it really bouncy and it just doesnt feel right for me. i started jamming with my friends for fun recently and it felt super shiok to play on an acoustic set again. i'm not a drummer pro but i just feel i can do more stuff on an acoustic set than on a electronic set. but then again, just look at omar hakim. went for his clinic thing at the dbs auditorium last year and he was amazing!

btw, i've got a friend who just smashes his drums. he lives in a hdb apartment and the police has paid him a few visits regarding complaints by the neighbours. HAHAH wicked.

confirm acoustic is better cos its the real thing man. just the sound you get from giving the drums one loud whack is proof enough. the full sound and resonance of the shell - delicious when its been set up well.

jeepers bro i guess ur friend isn't very popular with his neighbours. wicked sick!! besides the neighbours theres the family factor too(can't sleep/study).

RD: wow! that was a really fast reply, waiting for more news from you.. hehe..

Here's the solution! http://www.billyblastdrums.com
Look at his "blastech" Drums he builds.Electro/acoustic just flip them over for what ya want! Real Drums with Kelller Maple shells.
I have a set and use them both ways and they sound great.Choose the sound module you want and enjoy both worlds!
Or use his "Blasters" drum triggers with mesh heads on you existing set!
