Planetwaves Pedal Tuner

So I went and bought one of these tuners at Davis today, to replace my old kapok yamaha tuner. And I found out that........

the chassis becomes electrically charged when I connect it to a power source.

I connected it to a Dunlop DC brick, providing 9V of power, then while I was tweaking with it, i got a mild shock when my hand came into contact with the top of the chrome chassis. I found a test screwdriver (those with a little light bulb inside) and prodded the place where I suspected was live, and...... the bulb lit up haha. Nothing life-threatening, but not a sign of good workmanship I must say...... Gonna exchange it tomorrow and see if mine is a lemon or if it's a common problem... Those who own this tuner, did you experience similar problems?

i had (and still have) electric from my guitar and when i bend down to tweak my pedals..i'm using an avt 50 tt's not grounded and when i switch over to my good ol' MG15CDR there's no more shock.

worst part is when i touch the guitar with one hand i get this mild shock.

two hands, no shock.

i'm guessing it's the grounding of the amp.

coincidence? i dun think so.

anyway, there was another time i overlapped the metal 'heads' of my patch cables and i got a shock + a nasty loud hum whenever i touched the cable.

anyway, point is, u might want to check ur cables and ground ur amp.

pointers from my experience, hope it helps :)

those vox AD series can be easily grounded by buying a new power cord

those computer like from simlim

hmm. when i step on my zack wylde wah sometimes i do get a shock and when i plug in the power, blue sparks come out.

please get your amp checked b4 :smt095 < this happens.
or maybe it might have been static ....
9V will NOT shock you >>only a tounge zap :smt011
