Planet Wave Cables user take caution!

i bought a 20ft. planet waves cables from swee lee during the sales. The cables feature a patented nickel-plated plugs with 8 compression springs ensure positive connection. It's a good feature but the compression springs broke and got stuck in my DS7. I removed the cable from the pedal with quite some force and there you go, my DS7 is officially spoilt. Now i have to send it to randolf for repair.

thanks for the highlight.

i own several PW cables- circuit breaker version being one of them, have no issues thus far.

i have since switched to Ibanez/ George L cables.

yeah actually i feel like the planet wave cables are not a s hyped up as they are...i get lotsa microphonics and poor signal sometimes..

Where would be the best place and what brand would you guys recommend for quality cables in singapore?

besides georgeL's that is.

omg.. i feel sorry for u metalella_eh.. without that rim e pedal wun work? change e jack maybe?

i personally would think is luther's custom cables. had no problem since day 1 when i started playing guitar till now. although the insulation sort of torn but it still works. ibanez is not too bad too.

thanks but oh well, shit happens. the pedal didn't work. i plugged in my DS7, the pedal LED lights up but no sound is produced. i switched to my 808, it works perfectly. i switched between my cables, the DS7 just don't work.

u mean as in canare cables with neutrik heads??

I see...thanks for your advice....actually most of my patch cables are those..with a mix of George L's. :D

I was actually thinking of something that the pros use that can be super duper trust worthy and dependant upon to not cock up...

hahah thanks

That's the issue with those springy things that keep the cable in the jack, i used mine for around a year and my guitar jack is eroded so i cant use any other cables except the planet waves.

the ibanez cable sounds better than the luther one IMO... tried both and the ibanez has a warmer, fatter tone.

i hear more bass from the Ibanez cable. always bring it along to stores so that i have my own cable when testing guitars. bought it just to hear how quiet it actually is. not bad...

lol i think after this thread...

PLANET WAVE ACCESSORIES:Priceless

i still hold the circuit breaker cable in high regards.

certain unfortunate events shouldn't be treated as criminal, especially when it doesn't happen to you.

well, not all planet waves accessories should be in the spotlight. i'm just refering to the cable. but maybe i just got the lower than usual quality, so just have to change the cables and repair my pedal.

is there anyway to prevent that from happening? well, it sure is a good thing that it's the pedal that broke down. imagine if this happens not to the pedal, but the output jack of your guitar. HOHO! santa paid you an early visit for your bad deeds.

Ha... that's what happened to my friend's guitar... not with Planet Wave's cables though. I think it's because the plastic bracket retaining the output jack was aged.

Replacements abound, but I thought I might as well build a spare myself since I've got so many pieces of spare aluminum sheets, which is a lot thicker (and sturdier) than the steel replacement ones.

This could still use some polishing...

Anybody around tried Monster Cables???
Got a review?

Sorry for snooping around... ;)

i used to use them. Not bad, but I'd say Spectraflex cables are by far the best cables i've ever had aside from Luther's custom Canare cables with Neutrik heads.

These days I always bring two backup cables for live shows. One is a blue Canare with Swiss Neutrik heads from Luthers, and the other is a purple Spectraflex cable that i've had for 7 years and it is still in great condition after heavy use.

Monster Cables are a little overpriced but come with a lifetime guarantee. I've heard stories that you need the lifetime guarantee because they keep screwing up on people, but personally i've never had a bad experience with them. I just think that comparatively, I'd go with Specraflex because Spectraflex is very transparent and extremely hardy, and they don't tangle into annoying knots when you're unwinding them. I'm waiting to see how the Canares from Luthers hold up.

AMEN on spectraflex...i have one cable thats NINE years old and still going strong, unfucking belivable really. everything you said its true, plus i love the fact that it doesnt tangle and yet coils up naturally, and isnt stiff like planet waves circuit breakers which make up the rest of my cables..
