Heheh... I started on my S520EX too. Damn aluminium foil. And with a naked cavity before, i'm having wiring ideas.

how come the shielding paint is on the body, in the space of the pickguard outline rather than just in the cavity rout, with a single contact point to link up with foiled pickguard?

Never tried shielding this extra step - does it make any audible diffirence?

i think he wants the paint to have contact with the pickguard's metal underside to from an enclosed "box".

Yep, Timex is right. That was what I intended.

Shielding is just a matter of how anal you are. I don't think I'll be able to tell much difference between this one and the previous strat I shielded on. I am quite anal I guess. :P

Timex: Yes the paint has graphite content.

as i suspected. the industrial grade stuff i saw at my IA firm has copper as the conductive medium.Does it flake or rub off easily?

yeah except that the AM STD pick guard assembly doesnt have foil all over.

Thus far I always have a alum strip from cavity to top body face to ctc with pkgrd assembly foil - works ok but I guess you've taken the extra step.. 8)

Unfortunately, yes. :? I usually don't touch it after finishing up - shielding paint is easy to get rid of but is very messy to work with too.

Copper foil is an alternative, but I haven't tried it out yet.

Def shielding paint for me for cavities & stuff - copper or alum foil for pickguards and covers etc...

I used 2b super anal and used to shield the jack cavity, run small minute ctc from the cavity to main body cavity too but since it didnt make a dif I stopped doing that now...

Am going to paint the pickguard as well.

I'm already done with my S520EX... its great. The guitar is even quieter now!

Hehe.

And I'm convinced that the tone sounds slightly warmer... as per when it was with aluminium foil.

i read this post and thought hm... i have a hsh set up.. but i guess i'll start when i have the time.. open my back plate to only remember it is already black with graphite pain and the backplate has copper tape on it. cant believe i never notice them :S (yes i opened them before i replaced neck and bridge pick ups lol) >.<

thank you ibanez for shielding for me thank you...
