hi. im sorry to post another topic on pickups for strats. i couldnt find the info i needed in the previous posts. anyways, i was wondering what pickups would be good for a punk-rock sound? im thinking of changing all my 3 pickups as the stock pickups are starting to give me some problems. if you guys dont mind please post the price of the pickups you all recommend as well. thanks in advance :D

hiya, think punk rock maybe u'd go for Seymour Duncans. duckbucker or JB Jnr, L'il 59, can't go wrong. check out seymour's website for more info on their matched sets too. think prices range from 100-130 per pup? someone correct me if i'm wrong...cheers

sorry im not too good at pickups kinda things. when you mention the pickups, i use the same for all positions? lil'59 is for the bridge? sorry about it. kinda lost.

dunno. think fender hot noiseless retains more of the classic strat sounds with a higher output. maybe a hot rodded version of the texas specials? i dunno. just ordered mine will let ya know how it goes soon. heh.
as for the SD's, think JB Jnr for Bridge, Li'l 59 for neck and duckbucker mid. all are humbucking ... u will lose ur strat sound most prob, but if its punk rock u r after....

you might wana get stacked humbuckers or an actual humbucker for the strat. SD hotrails are cool.

Yea, many strats have got a humbucker route under the pickguard. Just swap the pickguard, mount on a humbucker(consider SD Invader, like Tom Delonge) and you're set to rock.

fibredrive : thanks for your advice. and abt losing the strat original sound. will keep a look on those. any idea how much one would cost?

pooo : um but if i get a SD invader it would be for the bridge only right?

Yea as repulse said it'll do best in the bridge considering your punk rock base. But there is a neck model of the Invader available if you ever are interested :)

hmm alright then. thanks for the advices. i guess i'll just get a SD invader for my bridge. um any idea how much one would cost? shld be able to get from swee lee right?

No not sweelee. Yamaha Music Plaza at Plaza Sing stocks Seymour Duncans. I don't know the exact prices but my guess is that it'll be about 140 thereabouts.

oh okay thanks pooo. will go and check it out soon. oh btw, do they fix it as well? cos if im not wrong they have to drill abit right? cos after all my strat is s-s-s.

repulse : um you mentioned abt SD hotrails b4. was wondering which position is the pickup meant for. sorry for my ignorance. hees

No it's highly unlikely you need to drill. Just buy a pickguard with SSH/HH or something. The humbucker will mount on it nicely. Installation, various places you can go to, if the tech is at yamaha you can get him to do it. Of cos it means forking about a lil more.

oh. okay thanks alot pooo. im going to check it out next week or something. maybe after getting it i'll go to luther to fix it up. hees zack over there is friendly =p

Glad i could help! :D Anyone related to luther is friendly man. Really enjoy going to that place. Carefree, friendly, happy gathering of musicians.
