hey guys i m planning to upgrade the pups on my ibanez rg370 to give it more tonal flexibility and more bite and punch in the dist. which one would u recommend? i m looking more at dimarzios. haha.

Agreed, paf pro and tone zone are excellent pups for your rg. Definetly flexible and provides a very full sound.

hmm okay thx man guys. but now i m wondering if it is worth it to upgrade the rg's pups considering its MIK. hmm wat do ya guys think? :)

Doesn't matter where its made in. As long as you like the feel, the wood gives a good tone and sustain, its fine. Most importantly is you like the guitar.

True that for different mades, the workmanship is different, but I've tried Made in Indonesia Ibanez, and the tone is awesome, much better than my Made in Korea piece.

It's not a matter of MIK or MII or MIJ or whatever, but more of how well your guitar is made or plays.

But usually anything in the RG series is well worth swapping the pickup, provided the stocks don't fit your need well.

Tonal flexibility is quite hard to define.....
Bridge pickup, quite a number of things fits your needs...

Super Distortion/Dual Sound works.
Tone Zone i'm not too sure, try asking some softies to provide soundclips and see if it fits your needs.

Next...
Exactly what kind of sound in the neck pickup would you want?

This is entirly true. I believe that you shouldnt bother where your guitar is made as long as you love how it plays. I would only recommend you to change your pickups when you definetly know what tone your after and which pups can equip you with it.

i know some people who love to buy new pups in search of their 'tone' and just end up wasting alot of money on new pups and a lousy guitar. So until you are sure, dont upgrade

+ a gazillion to that comment

MIC MIK MI whatever, if it sounds good to you and you got good vibes bout it, thats what counts, tone's subjective. its your sound, not anyone else's!

Yes, its better to find out what sound you want, then look for your pickup accordingly. But most importantly, be very sure that you really want your guitar, in terms of look, feel, playability, tone and etc. Because its no point modding a lousy guitar.

Lousy guitar + good pickups not equal Good tone.

But don't let the made turn you off. Its about the quality, not location. Nike shoes are manufactured in Indonesia too... :D

I use air-norton.

Excellent cleans. John Petrucci uses them. Very warm and deep distortions.
Clean sounds a mix of jazz and blues mix. Very versitile.

PAF Pro not so bassy.
