Will there are be any defects if a brand new untouched pickup is used after 2-3 yrs of storage???

i intend to use this pickup for my new guitar which i will onli get after i'm working. call me kiasu, but i olreadi ordered the pickup for this axe lol, so i wonder if there will be any issues/prob if left untouched? or will it be better 2 use it in my current axe DEN tranfer it over 2 my new guitar in the future? i have a invader in my current guitar and i like it so i don reali wanna change it to the pickups i ordered.

thnks and sorry this kinda of retard qns.haha :D

no i don't think any virus or bacteria will eat up ur pup... ;)

lol j/k... nah nothing will happen unless u pur ur pup near some strong magnetic source...

Yeah there ought to be no problems.

Think about people with old axes which are played regularly, not a hint of problems.

LOl. ok thnks.

i was thinking that if the magnets would start to become defective if it isnt being used after such a long time .....

if anyone has more info on this pls feel free to post :D :D :D

Hmm, could the metal parts get rusty?
Like most instruments n stuff, try to keep them in a "cool dry" place.. And "refrigerate after opening"..
For me, I those little packets of moisture absorbers.

I have a cheap korean make es335 that I did not touch for 10 years , it was kept in the same cardboard box that came along with it , everything stills work well when I started playing the guitar last year. I bought that guitar in 1989 and everything is stock .

Nothing shld go wrong with the pickups, as long as u store them in a good place. U may want 2 try ur freezer, cool and dry inside. But do make sure you wipe all condensation off when taking them out. Its a mistake most ppl make when storing in a freezer. My friend stored his pickups like that, 11 yrs later they're still fresh. As 4 the magnets, they shld be all right. Jus dun drop them excessively or put near strong magnetic source and u'll be gd 2 go.

if you keep it for too long without using
the tones of the pickup will slowly fade away
same like rechargable batteries,
it is recommended that you keep it partially charged
for pickups, you do this by using them

No fear
mail them to me and i will use them for you, free of charge
till you axe comes and you need them back.

btw , what pickups are these ?

nah thnk for the offer ,its ok Ratboy haha.

btw they are bill lawerance 500XL.Wanted to put them in the futureon the new guitar but if it gonna cost me the tone , i guess i'll have 2 take out the invader den :( and fit them in my present guitar den have 2 either sell the invader off or store them, hoping the tone will remain. rather the invaders den the BL if the tone shld suffer for me :?

no worries- there shouldn't be deterioration of unused pickups, unless you are planning to expose them to the elements/ put under running water every day 8)

i did buy a humbucker which was on the shelf (still unwrapped in its plastic casing) for very long, was still unsold at the shop shelf, even after 1.5yrs after its discontinuation. upon installation, it worked well, nothing wrong with it.

think of it this way
people are willing to pay much extra $$ for artificially aged pickups
( say sd-antiquity series )

so yours will be naturally aged by then : )

Short story ..
i bought a piece of Gibson Dirty Finger
from a shop in KL many years ago
It came in the original cardboard box,
that was so old the box turned brownish
it sounded great

I regret selling it still : (
