Pickup Choices

Hi all, i'm cosidering getting a set of 2 humbuckers for my guitar come christmas. However, i'm not exactly sure wat to get. So cld u guys help me out? My guitar is an Ibanez RGTCR2 neck thru mahogany body. I'd like both pickups to be able to produce that LP type rock sound, midrange heavy and warm. It cld be a little more trebly too. I'm looking for a neck pickup that is medium output that can handle overdrive/distortion well enough and when played clean, has a trebly twang to it. My bridge shld be a higher output pickup that can produce a very nice distorted sound, midrange heavy as mentioned and with more trebs and bass than an LP. I'd like the cleans to be brighter and thicker. Thx alot guys!

hey... many pickups will fit the "nice distortion genre"... SDs, dimarzio. however, regarding your
"cleans to be brighter and thicker" i'm really not sure... humbuckers+ mahagony tends to lean towards the darker side... something has to be compromised either way.

Well in your case, I recommend Dimarzio Super distortion in your bridge, and how about a Dimarzio Humbucker from hell in the neck?

I know abt the mahogany+humbuckers conundrum and thats exactly wat i'm trying to eliminate. Thx for all the replies so far, pls do continue to share ur thoughts. I thought i might try the Tesla Plasma II set. Got any comments frm any1? Also thinking of the Tonezone-PAF Pro combi.....will that fit the bill? Thx!

my recommendation:
bill lawrence L610 for the neck. superb clarity is there for this p-90-ish pickup, plus, it takes drive well. if you really want to find fault with it... it sounds very sweet.. maybe too sweet for some ppl i think. anyhow, the pup solve the mud problem that my epi LP used to have.

as for bridge, i suppose their L500 series is alright. haven't tried those as i'm not into too much high gain stuff

i dont really think a tone zone will sound good , as in alder or basswood is already quite muddy . maybe u might wanna try a dimarzio super distortion in bridge and a air zone dimarzio on neck .
