pedalboard carpet help

hi,

i realised my board is having those really huge air bubbles on the carpet.
like when i pull my pedals out of its place, the carpet will be pulled out as well.

so i ripped out the whole piece of carpet and found out that its only a super thin piece of 'hairy' cloth. so thin that you can actually see through it.

so i was wondering, if i were to re-carpet the board, do i use the same piece of carpet that i ripped out?

or do i get a new piece?

also, about gluing the carpet, is elephant glue strong enough?
and do i have to glue the entire sheet of carpet?
