Pedal or no Pedal?

Hi purchased a guitar and a amplifier about two months ago,so far all i have is a NuX 15 watt amp and a ibanez grg121.All i use is the amp's gain for playing to get metal and rock tone.Am i doing it wrong:confused:Should i purchase a pedal for a more "fierce tone"?Will there be a differences in the sustain with the pedal and would the pinch harmonics comes out more frequently.Either way either i doing it wrong or there isnt enough distortion.

I shred with the Nux 15 watter everyday at work and i dont find a lack of gain at all. tweak the EQ, you can get your desired tone.

On a side note, i think you haven't played around with the settings enough, and that being said, if you cant tweak your amp, how are you gonna tweak your high gain pedals if you actually bought them?

so your saying its ok if i just play from the guitar straight to the amp right?i tired tweaking the eq settings , u mind recommend me some of the settings u are using?thanks!

Wa...you could've passed off as me lol.Exactly the same, only diff guitar.

Anyways,I think you don't need to get a pedal right now, since you just started.Like what LadyInTears said, tweak around with the EQ settings on your NuX,you should get something close to your desired sounds already.

If you need settings, try Googling "<insert band name> EQ settings",should have at least one result, mostly threads on other music related forums, which has the settings your after :)

amp + guitar is sufficient, especially so if the amp serves you interms of cleans & driven tones. pedals are supplementary, get them if you think they serve you in addition to your amp & guitar 8-)

Agreed. Unless you are 100% sure you can't get the distortion tones you like on your amp, then get a distortion pedal that can. It's a lot more convenient to just plug your guitar straight into the amp. No need to bother with adapters, batteries, extra cables, etc.
