Pedal interconnect issue

Hi all,

I've been experiencing weird problems with my lava cables DIY interconnect. When I test each individual interconnect, it allows the signal to flow through and I thought it is fine. However, when I fitted it in between all my pedals, sometimes it cuts the signals, sometimes it causes radical tone changes when I activate pedals. I've tried screwing the jack head as hard as possible. Could it still be the interconnects fault or the pedal. I've also tested my pedals individually to make sure they work.

If the interconnects are the issue, anybody has any cheap solutions? I don't really want to spend another lump sum on other DIY interconnects like George L and have it fail. I don't mind spending on a bunch of mogamis but that's it.

Thanks for all the help in advance

Hello,

Perhaps the problem lies somewhere else in your chain. If there is a drastic tone loss I doubt the patch cables are the problem, assuming they are built properly. Since you make testee each cable individually, perhaps you can build your chain one by one and see when the tone loss starts?

Drastic tone loss and general weird sounds are very possibly due to issues with power. Swap the DC lead and see if that helps?

Could be due to pedals using true bypass switches and your nice cables are highlighting this issue in your signal chain. Even putting pedal in different orders can either fix or make this worse.
Search for Buffer versus True Bypass discussions on the web.
There's also an article by Pete Cornish about not using these in his pedal boards (if you don't know this guy, read about him and his services).
