Pedal and amp settings.

Hey guys, I have an Boss MD-2 distortion pedal, Line6 Floor Pod Plus and a 15-watt Marshall MG15CDR amp. Just for clarification. In which order should i place the effects. and where should I set my eq? Amp? or the FLP panel itself?

Ok lets say I don't use the Panel...plug in my guitar to the MD-2 and straight to the amp. The MD-2 has bottom and tone controls see... so what..can it substitute my amp bass and treble knobs? or should i set my desired tone on the amp and then improve on it with such bottom and tone controls?

confuses the hell out of me..I've tried many variations of tonal controls

In fact I find the OD on my marshall more firm man.

u could set yur amp eq all to neutral (12 o'clockish) and just tweak yur pedal settings
one of the reasons for poor tone could be due to the nature of yur practice amp

i usually turn off all my pedals and tweak the EQ on the amp to a clean sound i like.. cos ur not gonna be playing with ur drive on all the time right?

once i have the cleans dialled in, i turn on my drives and tweak the EQ on the drive pedal to better suit the amp, and also to my own taste.. well that's how i do up my settings.. =)

My amp is always on clean  . I rely on pedals for my drive. But in my opinion running an analog pedal like your MD-2 and a MFX processor like your Floor Pod plus will create some complications. You see, MFX processors are designed as standalone, to replace an entire pedalboard.

Cool man, thanks for all the help, I have a feeling that my MG15CDR is like damaged or smth man =(
like when I palm mute...there'll be freakin lot of buzzing and it sounds so artificial...
hard to describe but yea...

i dun think it's damaged....u just need to upgrade to a new amp hah
or maybe yur bass is set too high

The MG15CDR is not pedal-friendly..
I don't envy trying out pedals in Ebenex on their MG15..
I've always felt that they should use an Epi Valve Jr. or something..
Like at Blackwood, where you get to use their AC15..

Most low-end Marshalls tend to colour the tone IMO.. The MG series, and definitely the AVT series..
Only the MG15MSII is decent in the MG series, and the older badge of AVTs sound better than the newer valvestate ones..

But with that amount of money, it would be wise to spend on other brands.. I find that the lower end Marshalls only provide the brand name, while the higher end Marshalls are the ones that make the brand name..
A Roland Cube, a Randall RG series, a Fender Pro Jr., Epiphone Valve Jr., Vox AC or AD series, Soundrive amps, etc. are all worth it investments..

Actually right, my friend's MG15MSII is pretty powerful...but..just doesn't have the kick. roland cubes are great amps man..im seriously lookin to sell my marshall and perhaps get a roland cube...i realise that when using efx...the marshall amp tends to suck out the tone alittle...what do you think?
