PEACE Drums

The terracota finish for the ecx is quite nice. got a chance to mess around on the kit in a function room. wasn't happy with it though. was using the stock heads. hardware felt reassuringly steady. a testament to pearl's hardware. then again. i feel that its still uncomparable to the smx. notes do not come out as nicely. the ecx would probably be your typical pdp maple kits. pdp has a larger variety of finishes though. im more sure of pearl's hardware though. guess you gotta see what you would regard as a priority. not sure about the ecx prices. definitely more ex than vision. less than mcx. i would assume 2k to 3k range? somebody got a vision for 1.8 here and i've got the mcx prices.
 
if you're looking around for a birch kit. take a look at the sonor force series. matte finishes. but i love the design of their lugs. mapex m birch looks pretty decent too. no experience with the m birch though. the only fact i dont like is that their lugs only have one screw.
 
well. its mapex claim. but it bugs me cos why doesn't every drum manufacturer do it. anyways. im only worried that there is too much strain at one point on the shell for each lug that is. then again. their washers are huge. which should protect it but ugly like a metal plate in your drum . sort of beats the purpose of trying to have less metal on the shell. you dont see dw doing that. their washers are only the width of the screw and got curves one. like zildjian mastersound bottom hats to help visualise.
 
Bro - I do not know much about PEACE Drums....I pressume from above the "Demolition" must be Peace highest end ...izzit correct or am I wrong here?.

If it is - May I know how much is a "Peace Demolition" Kit?..Is this Kit better than a Yamaha Stage Custom...just curious here - cause my Yammies really rock.
 
right now, the lowest end is actually the peace legion. going for 620 at ezimusic. demolition is going for 880.

bro RD, your stage custom will definitely own demolition for sure la!
 
Ok my opinion.

If prices were kept to that of 2006, Peace could've been a great buy. However, at the current prices, I would top-up a little and get something else with better manufacturing history and support.

The reason why I'm supporting Mapex now its because I discovered how supportive both Terry Ang (the distributor) and Nigel (drums resources) are with they're willingness to provide support for parts and after sales service. Seriously, if you ask me (as a working musician) nothing beats after sales support. How many times have you guys needed a part and its almost impossible to find stock locally and worse still, have back-order issues?

With Mapex, if you need something, we'll try our best to source it out for you in the best of our abilities.

Also, please take not that I'm not a dealer cos Nigel is the sole dealer for Mapex. I'm just a user that truly believes in their quality.

P.S. do you guys know that Mapex uses the same machine that manufactures Orions (top of the line Mapex series) to manufacture ALL their drum shells? Yes, even down to their cheapest kit! Do you know that even down to the cheapest kit, everything is still finished by hand?? Their attention to details is THE DEEPEST!
 
RD, my personal opinion is that your Stage Customs would beat the DNA anytime. I am comparing the Stage Customs with the Peace DNA maple because of the almost prices.

I remember hearing the DNA Maple a couple of times....hmm...it did not sound as alive and warm as a maple drumset should. This was despite the drums being well tuned, etc. Please dun ask me where I heard them...cos its not so nice to reveal who the drum owner is.

Again: this is only my own opinion that is formed based on my bias towards the drum 'sound' that I like.
 
well the mapex were my 1st choice had it not have been for financial issues..I wanted to pay by credit installments and mapex doesnt have that payment option.

The free Black panther that comes with the Pro M really was the best tempting offer ever..

I'm still waiting for the visions to get delivered..and gotta spend some time letting the heads sit in and tune it up proper before being able to tell the actual tone of the drums.

I could use some help with tuning ! :lol:
 
If that's the case hopefully Ricky will bring - (1) Paragon Maple, (2) Paragon Custom Pro-Choice, or their (3) Kahuna All Bubinga. - - Either one of these for us to Test their High-End Peace Kit....this would be nice.......Ahpek where are you ? - - - Can get Ricky to bring one of these High End Kit let us hear the sound or not ?.... :smt033

I waited 4 months for my Yamaha Hipgig (hand-made so when it was sold out, I really had to wait!) In Melbourne, Yamaha gave the best support! I was able to get parts from the dealers easily and I know for sure that if something breaks, I will not have a head-banging problem.

I was using a tama kit before the yamaha and sold it cos tama had really bad support from the local dealers. I practiced on a practice pad and set-up my pedal against a wall and used the poor wall as my bass drum. In the end, when the Yamaha finally arrived...it was like God sent.

Bottomline is, get what you REALLY want. Cos a drumset is not cheap....even the cheapest kit may take a few months to save for. Its not something that after you've got it, tried it, hate it, you can change it within days. It will take you many months again to try to sell it and upgrade again.....it'll bring you more frustration in the end.

If you are really considering Peace, then go for at least the DNA if your intention is to upgrade from what you have now. The lower range kits are only as good as what you have now...so no point. Good luck dude!
