A wide range of Paiste cymbals has just arrived. Previously not brought in before. Was at Ranking to open the carton boxes and get the Alpha Brilliant cymbals. Great sound at a great price. There are splashes and chinas from the 2002 series. Will get those along the way. This shipment prices are less than the previous ones due to the huge quantity that are brought in. Go check them out!

20" 2002 Thin Crash?

And drum_hobbyist! I still have your mini gong that I borrowed. I'm in crutches now though, when I'm outta crutches I'll drop by your place and return it!

Jeepers, what happened to your leg?? 2002 Thin Crash in 16", 17" and 19". They sound so beautiful. So tempted to get all 3. Still considering. So far I got the Alpha brilliant - 8" and 10" splashes, 14" soundedge metal hats, 17" metal crash and 20" metal ride. I am not into metal music. Using the right sticks make these cymbals sound great! My next target is the Alpha 18" metal china and 2002 10" wild splash.

is it recommended to get the 101? its like at 235 for the pack of 3. how much is the alpha series? as in the standard set pack

101 is their worst series (or one of their worst), so I don't recommend it, especially since $235 isn't that little. You could buy my sabian solar cymbals for under $200 lol!
I haven't checked out Alphas, I'll assume it costs around ZHTs/XS20s (definitely more than double of 101s).

hahaha did my knee reconstruction surgery to fix my torn ligaments. no biggie, just really inconvenient moving around.

mmm, the 19" thin sounds interesting. might settle for that since they didn't bring in the 20", which is a real shame because that 20" is amazing. how many pieces of the 19" did they bring in? can pm me if not convenient to post up here.

your contribution to the drumming society is invaluable, drum_hobbyist. very much appreciated!

Yo drum_hobbyist

I went ranking yesterday. There's this filipino sales guy who is nice and friendly. I was purchasing
a paiste 2002 crash and they let me test try the different kind of crash. Don't know if other shop allows test try. I was like crazy crashing in the shop.

But when i ask for the price i find it amusing that a 17" 2002 thin crash cost 385 while a 16" 2002 thin crash cost 408.

Logically the price should be the bigger size the pricier. When i ask the sales people politely why their price are opposite they wasn't really sure.

Anyway i got mine and i am happy about it. Its a smooth and shiny 2002 crash.

Barthead - The Alphas doesn't come in a set. If you were to by the standard sizes, it will be around $900. Though the Alpha is labelled as semi-pro. It sounded pro to me! In my opinion, the best brass cymbal set is Meinl HCS selling at $285 if i am not wrong. Meinl even bother to have it in youtube to be played by a pro. That is their confidence.

Dark heart - The pricing difference is that the latest shipment of the cymbals are priced cheaper. Glad that you got what you want. What i like about Ranking is that you can test the cymbals without any obligation of buying them and in fact i have bought more cymbals from Ranking than any other shops. I like the service and the pricing.

Well, just to say my share about visiting Ranking. I was quite impressed by the Signature crashes in Tony Zee's studio, so my friend and I decided to take a look at Paiste cymbals in Ranking, knowing they are the local distributor.

We were so called firstly served by another lady who said "are u buying? if no buying, no testing", of cos I said we had the intention of buying if we like the sound of cos, not only this we were told to be able to test for like 5 min. So many cymbals there, only 5 min? LOL...We were testing the cymbals before the boss came to take a look with a stinking attitude before taking the drumsticks away while saying, 'if u are not buying, no testing." and continued to glare at us to like chase us out the shop. Oh yeah the boss was literally glaring at us when my friend and I were looking around even at the drumsticks. I was quite impressed with the 2002 ride and I would have bought it if not for that stinking attitude. I could have bought the signature series if I wanted to. But it seems like the boss judges people by how they look? Or they see, oh 2 young chaps, no money one la. My budget that day is $500 for a ride btw, it is not much but too bad, they lose a customer.

The only place where I did testing with totally no obligation at all was at drumsresources. I did a 2+hours testing of cymbals there before I got my cymbals. This is what I called service and professionalism.

hey i think i know which uncle you toking bout. Not really impressed with him either. By the way i am a young chap too heehee : P

I was there the other day. When a lady from the sports section kindly helped me out with the cymbals.
Even thought she didnt know much about them. But she kindly apologised.
Made me so embarresed as she went out to get me some sticks to test. plus she even allow me to take down any cymbals just so readily. Also when she found out that the headliners hi hats had no price tags, she we out and kindly asked me to wait while she checked everything out.
Shes wasnt there to keep presuring me. She also allowed me to test alone. Without the glares and stares.
Btw theres a uncle who kinda not sure of his stuff.
+1 to them.

Sorry to hear you guys got a negative reception. Will feedback to them. I have been there countless times with long period of time and so far had observe that the staff in Ranking treats all customers reasonably well.

Have to agree with faithsilence.

While the ladies (especially the lady boss when she's free) are ever willing to help, the uncle's plain annoying. The mere thought of him alone makes me think twice about stepping into Ranking to make a purchase. Right now I only go in to check if there are new stock for Evans (disappointing). And i don't go to Ranking unless it's absolutely necessary that I buy something from there.

Well u dun have to feel sorry or anything. It is just kinda ridiculous to have this kinda of 'Asians are poor' attitude.
