PA system for home studio

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of setting up a home studio but I'm totally clueless about what to get with a budget of $1000.

I was thinking of either the Yamaha Stagepas 300 or Fender Passport since they come with both the mixers and speakers but I'm worried about the sound quality especially when I plug in my Roland TD-12 V-drums.

Any ideas?

have you considered "headphone jamming" ?

since you got a e-drum, buy D.I guitar processors like line6 pod/behringer vamp. get a mixer to plug in all of these. leave one or two channels for vocals. then get a headphone amp + a load of cheap headphones.

cheaper, quieter. you're better friends with your neighbours can do recording also.

vocal mic>guitar/bass/e-drums > mixer > headphone amp > headphones for each bandmember.

Recording =

from mixer > MD/mp3 player / PC soundcard.

definitely below $1K.

Hi Brother, I am now thinking along your line and wonder if you could advise me. I have the Roland TD9 e-drum and considering to get either the Yamaha stagepas 150w or the 250w.

I am intending to use the speaker for the drum, electric lead guitar and also bass guitar. wonder if this is a good choice, pls advise, thank you

wow, this was like 1 yr ago...

Anyway, I'm currently using a TD12 with Phonic Roadgear 260 (260W)....It's fantastic if you ask me and so 250W should serve you fine...but just make sure there are enough inputs for mics and keys as well in case you want to expand your band in the future

yea dude,headphone jammin..espcecially at home would come in handy.anytime can jam..anytime jam..no worry bout disturbin neighbours.

but if u want a PA system.this brand called 'wharfedale' at city music would suffice...whether it sounds good to connect drum and all i don know...its most affordable PA system i know.

Thank you for your advise, I am a newbie for such stuff and can you advise me how to set up for headphone jamming?

Also, does any of the PA system provides headphone jamming set up?

I have a space constrain at home and need to buy a small size set up. Most important that it can be use with my Roland electronic drums, bass guitar and if possible, my electric guitar as well.

Can you also advise me the approximate price that I have to budget for these PA system? or should I have separate speaker/amp for drums and bass guitar? I hope to keep my set up simple as space is a major constraint.

Stage Pas 500

Hi, forget about the rest of the PA system. Stage Pas 300 is under powered. But then again, it depends what genres you are in. I would strongly suggest you buy Yamaha Stage Pas 500 which will cost you around $1400.00. Read the review in the website.

Yupp! I agreed the stagepas 500 is a better buy than the 300 series. Pls dun save a few hundreds annd then regret and resell it. The 500 got to be the best rounder for clairty and punch. Myself owned a 500 too and the sound is comparable to MSP7 monitor speakers? Im a keyboardist and the 500 gives me the good feel and clarity whether if I payed loud or soft. So do check it out.
