General shipping advice:
-For drums, you can try to request the store you're buying from, to nest the kit before sending, and ask them to put sufficient buffer material to prevent scratches on the inside of the shells.
-Go for a shell pack if possible, the weight of the hardware will jack up the shipping cost.
E.g. 14" snare into 20" BD, and 10" and 12" tom into a 16x16 floor tom.
I've thought about getting the Gretsch Catalina Maple Fusion 6-pc Shell pack.. US$799 @ Musician's Friend, but will take some time to save for that if I'm serious. But I'll see how much ranking will charge to order in first.
