overdrive and distortion

I'm currently using that rabbitised OD-3 into a twin reverb actually.. mid-hump heaven.. haha..

the dynamics are pretty good leh.. hurhur.

:)

yah i think there's a definite mid-hump.. like tubescreamer i think.. better ask the experts here like subversion. Me no no expert.

It definitely makes the tone fat though.. its also very tube-like dynamically.. i love it. Goes with fender amps very well. Not sure how it will sound through a marshall though..

One caveat, it sounded quite poor through a small solid state amp I used to have.. like...flat.. bleah.... but through the twin, its yummy. :)

freakyfir, you're a friend of Yasmin arent you. :D

as of your question, like the others said there's no right or wrong. personally, i use two ODs and a dist pedal.

i hook my trem first in the chain (yes, first). then blabla.. then dist followed by my Tonedriver and Screamin' Blues. depends on what you'd like to achieve anyway.

sometimes you might wanna distort your overdrive, and sometimes you might wanna overdrive your distortion. depends on what sorta sound you're looking for. that's my 2cents. (:

ah point taken again. i feel like getting another od, for variety's sake. a TS perhaps.

and yes, you've got me a there. a friend of hers, i am. and also charlene's.

haha. this is the part where we take this conversation to PM.

there are varied drive pedals in the market. after going through many, i believe they should be used to address the player's needs. some mild units get dismissed due to impractical application. chances are, these would be better employed as drive-type boosters.

with that in mind, i recently acquired the Austin Gold- a struggling stand-alone pedal, a wonderful complement to primary drive units/ amps' dirty channels.

noted. my conclusion is to try out a few more ODs and see what suits my needs the most. perhaps i'll end up with a few ODs in my chain and using them interchangeably.

ponder ponder.

thanks sub :)
and the rest of you for your input as well.
there's only one thing left for me to do. stock up on instant noodles for the coming months ahead in an effort to save more money for more pedals.

hmmm... about saving up & buying: if it's within your means, do grab the stuff you fancy before the GST hike. i'm grabbing as many nappies for my daughter in the mean time... with a guitar or two in mind

When will the GST hike start? Might wanna save tons of money to get gear before prices go ballistic.

oh crap i forgot about that. that's very good advice. hmm. but then again there's that small package of $300 that i'll be receiving. perhaps i shall use that money for pedals. gahaha.

true true. ah the agony. time to employ the help of some wealthy friends.

"hey can you loan me $300? i'll pay it back when the increment kicks in."

sounds like a good plan? after reading the other threads i feel like getting a ts7 and giving that rocktron a try as well. gas is evil. this way, i don't think i'll ever get married. :\

i'm in the midst of reviewing it. a preliminary comment here is: it doesn't mix well with another drive pedals, especially a more intense one.
