Original Floyd Rose vs Licenced

does anyone own or used both original and licenced and did a comparison?

hm i think a good comparison will be using car repair parts

genuine toyota parts
and aftermarket toyota parts

both will work but the aftermarket ones, some are good, some are not, some are even better then original toyota parts

some good licenced brands : gotoh ,schaller

I got a floyd rose licensed from ranking sports... there aint any tuners on the bridge... but it is cheap.

I have Ori floyd 1 & 2 & UL floyd 1 & 2 s.. IMHO, Yamaha guitars produces d best UL floyds around.. I think tuning stability depends more on ur locking nut, than d bridge itself.. most difference is in the sustain..

yamaha guitars with floyd rose is 800+ right.. which is same as ibanez.. (not prestige). I think ibanez edge ZR is nicer lo..

on the topic of floating trems, anyone knows where i can get locking nuts and screws? and which is good?

Just get the gotoh one. They come with the locking studs.
I like the gotoh's and the Ibanez Original Edge (But these cost as much as OFR).

Regarding the ZR Tremolo, theres quite a cult following it..

Apparently the ZR allows the strings to stay in tune despite the breaking of another string.. thats a major plus point compared to the FR ( Esp for those who gig alot and your string breaks on stage. ) You'll get where im coming from.

Also it does not wear as easily as the FR in terms of returning to its original position.

hi guys any tips on enhancing tuning stability? my ibanez xiphos with edge III bridge always runs out of pitch.

Stretch the strings really well. Change the Tuners. If still doesnt work. LOL. Goodluck. Edge III routing can't fit the other Floyd rose trems. Some routing will need to be done.

My fav Floyd is the one on my current axe, the venerable EDGE PRO II. Its super-stable, much more so than OFRs or the Gotoh/Schaller ones and yet it can whammy jus as well ( some say better ) than the OFR. IMHO, its only true competitor is ironically the ZR, which is also frm the same company. Highly recommended, Ibanez EDGE and ZR trems. Only gripe i have is with the EDGE III, which is not so stable and the design makes string-changing a headache for me.

yeah man, schaller floyeds are actually the most stable i've ever played. awesome stuff.
