Hi all,

Hoping to get a bass cab for my brother. Usage wise would be for home and to be able to double up for a small venue/on stage monitor. Must be able to transport in a car.

After reading and checking out the prices of some of the bass cabs in singapore, I have narrowed down to 2

Dr Bass DRB112 - 1 x 12 with tweeter

Dr Bass Drb 1260- 1 x 12, 1x 6 and a tweeter

Price difference of about $250sg between the 2way and the 3way

How do the more traditional 2way compare with the 3way in terms of tone and versatility?

Does the mid-range speaker add alot(tone wise) to the cabinet?

Issit worth it to spring for the 3 way?

Regards

There's a Dr Bass dealer in Singapore?

Get the 3-way if you want the added definition. That said, I would be more willing to buy a 3-way if it was a 1510 or 1508 with tweeter. Can you try before you buy?

There is no Dr bass dealer in singapore.

Shipping cost via DHL or fedex is about USD250.

Best is can try but as usual, no dealer, cant try. Singapore even got dealer also no stock cant try.

back to the question.

If given a choice and the hefty shipping cost, typically you would spring for the 3-way?

jbaker, could you describe why you would prefer the sound of the 15" to the 12"? Lower more solid sounding?

The ability to trasport the cab easily in a car is one of my concerns therefore picked the 12".

Yeah... it's pretty much personal preference. I like the sound of a 15" with tweeter; very fat and round. 10- and 12-inchers have punch, but I haven't come across one that was as fat as having a 15 around.

To answer your question: If I could afford it, I would. The 3-way cabs have crossovers with mid and tweeter controls, so there's the option to dial either one out if I feel like it.

12" cones sometimes have a sort of nasal honk to them... maybe not so much if you have a 2x12 or 4x12 but I haven't seen those in Singapore yet. Check Basstasters for samples and you'll see/hear what I mean. Then again Dr Bass cabs have a reputation for sounding larger than the sum of their parts, so I can't say for sure.

Just took a look at the Dr Bass site—would love to have the DRB 3080 ;)

the good thing about having to ship in stuff that has no dealer in SG is that you would expect it to have a high resale value; simply because such brands are so rare, if not non-existent in this country

give me a pleasant suprise earlier in the thread for dr bass dealer but than scroll down aiyoh.. so sad.

i got 15" its fatter than the 12". i am thinking of getting a 15" cab as well to pair with the 4x10 *grinz*
