Opening for Crue but no equipment!

what? u still must buy tickets and rent yr own equipment to open for Crue? wat is this.....are they even payin u those organisers........

haha, we have guitars. thanks for offering though.
We jst need the backline. drums and amps, etc..

I guess Crue wouldn't want bands using their equipment. Understandable.

And I'm giving my ticket away cos I wouldn't need it if I'm playing.

they told u so? okay la, can understand... but the stuff u want may be quite ex to get or rent, not sure if many SOFTies would lend it to u. hope they do though. sell your ticket la... give it away. lol

i had a fren who was given a chance to open for Avril Lavinge. He rejected it, cause he said he was scared he couldn't resist the temptation to order a T-shirt that screamed "AVRIL LAVINGE SUCKS" and wear it for the concert. lol. hope u don't do that

Hi there, I would advise you not to give your ticket away.
If the organizers are not paying you for the gig, and refuse to assist in providing the essential equipments, How can you be so sure they won't chase you out after you finished your performance?

It kinds of riles me when these foreigners come here and expect any bands here to open the concert for them without paying them and providing amps etc. If they want to act this way, wouldn't it be better if they bring a band from their home country and subject them to the same treatment? No..because they believe in human rights, and will sue their asses off haha.
oh yeah ..I forgot, they wouldnt want to pay for their flight and hotel expenses etc, would they , these cheapos? haha

jesus christ you people have no lovelovelovelovelovelovelove clue what you're talking about.

its standard practice internationally for opening acts (ie non-headliners) to provide their own backline, moreso LOCAL (as in local to the country, not singaporean) openers who are usually grateful enough to play the show let alone get paid. remember people are paying to see the headliners, not some two-bit opening act.

hell, its common to see on touring band riders and contracts that opening acts have to provide their own FOH mixer and mics even, not just the backline. anything otherwise is a gesture of goodwill, not the norm. of course, we're talking about proper shows here not some DIY underground gig. let's not even go into the fact that in singapore bands rock up to a show with their guitars and drumsticks with no backline, literally unheard of anywhere else in the world.

the babble about foreign bands coming here and expecting bands yadayada is pure wank. crue or anything other band couldn't care less about who,if anyone opens the show as long as it doesnt affect them. remember they DONT NEED an opener. THE OPENING ACT IS NOT GOING TO DRAW A BIGGER CROWD FOR THEM. if a single member of their crew helps the openers out they are losing money if anything. dragonforce didn't have an opener here because they would have to wake up earlier for soundcheck. fair enough!

singaporeans are being babied and people are still bitching. wake the lovelovelovelove up goddammit.

hmmm are u guys getting paid to open for them? if u were invited to play, i think the least the organizers could do is to sponsor equipment rental.

Unless the opening band is almost on par to the international band, or has a significantly huge fanbase of their own, it is not financially viable for an organizer to pay for the equipment. Quite standard practice mah, not just in Singapore. In fact, overseas, it's even worse. Standard club gigs venues overseas most times don't even provide basic amps and the backline.
