open handed drummers

hello,

i used to play wit the traditional cross method, but is i'm lefthanded, i switched over to the openhand when i started feeling stifled.

i've shifted over the my cymbals an floor tom to the left side, which makes for easy access.

i would highly recommend this method 2 every1.. it really makes tings alot simplier! =)

(replying in camp so can't post pictures (-_-") )

I've thought of moving the floor tom to the left initially. Then it would be easier to play 16th notes on the floor tom. But the floor tom is also needed for fill-ins. So I force myself to learn the traditional way of playing.

yeah..

get wat u mean..

now i'm toying wit d idea of buying a floor tom separately..

but lyk v hard 2 find leh.. :(

caijunlong!! wah ur tom angle bery powerful ah!! like batman logo liddat.. hahaha

im right handed, but sometimes train open handed playing just for the fun of it.

A noob drummer answers a Drummer Wanted ad:

Noob Drummer: Hi, I saw your ad, I'd like to try out for your band.
Band Member: Hey man, you're the first guy to call. Sweet. So how long have you been playing?
Noob Drummer: Well, just a couple of months, but I think I'm pretty good.
Band Member: Well, we're jamming tomorrow, just come by the studio and we'll run you through a quick audition.
Noob Drummer: Cool. I'll just bring my sticks yeah.
Band Member: Yeah, that'll do. Just another question, are you a open-handed drummer by any chance? Our previous guy was, and the whole kit is already setup that way.
Noob Drummer: Huh?? Open-handed? How to hold the sticks if the hands are open?? 8O
Band Member:

Lol, I kinda thought of it last night when I was thinking what any other person would think of when they hear "Open-handed" drummer.
