Above is a photo of the new model designed by my mate Ken Fischer and built by Komet Amps in the US. Komet amps are highly thought of - Mark Knopfler toured with them and Bon Jovis and Aerosmith play them. This time Ken has gone over the top and not jst made an amp that sounds incredible, but one that looks incredible too. Check out http://www.kometamps.com/newmodel.html if you'd like to see more photos.

Only problem is the price. Where am i going to find 5K US?

It would be some time before I could even afford the stock Komet amp, so no, don't think you'll get to play one for a while.

Hope to see one when I get back to Oz.

cheers,

Mark.

heh heh... i actually also cannot afford also lah. just thot can go see see... US$5000? my dad don't print money one leh...

I have never had the fortune to try out any of Ken's amps, either his Trainwrecks or his amps he designs for Komet. The amp pictured is opnly now available to the public and only 30 will be produced. Ken sent me a couple of polaroid snaps of the first amp a month back so that's how new they are.

They sell very well in the US, but I don't think that there are many in this region, maybe Japan. There are a few Trainwrecks there I believe.

cheers,

Mark.

No offense man but how do you know you will like it when you've never tried the thing out personally?

Ken drew a schematic for me a couple of years back and I made the amp up. All his amps are know to be very responsive to touch and harmonically rich (seems like you're playing through a chorus), and the overdrive is really sweet and full, like what people feel a Marshall should be. That's exactly what everyone who played the amp felt. Below 5 it's sweet and clean, at 5 to 6 you get a nice breakup and at 8 you have Van Halen.

There are also the sound clips of the amp at the komet website that help you understand what the amps are capable of without pedals and just a simple guitar.

cheers,

Mark

You made the amp? Hmm, if you don't mind, could you please tell me your full name? I may have heard of you, you're an amp tech right? I'm looking around for an amp tech should my amp needs servicing.

Hi Funk,

Yes you may have heard of me. My full name is Mark Stevens, but I won't be able to help you out as I'll be going back to Oz for good in Feb next year and have no time for amps in the meantime. Still have one to build for a client and three to rebuild and I've only a couple of months to go.

cheers,

Mark.
