Salute to a Great Guitar Hero

Jason Becker is one of my great all time Guitar Hero. his chops are superb, at blinding speed, his riffs and melodies are truly awesome, very MUSICAL indeed, its not just speed and articulation, its really music that inspires you. One great composition of his is 'Altitudes'. Should check it out, you should not call yourself a shred super hero if you can't play this song, but well, its just my opinion, I've set my standard to this. If you want the tabs, I have it, just PM me :-)

As for the video story of jason becker, library@esplanade has a DVD copy for you to borrow. The title is the legendary guitar of Jason Becker - but you must be a Premium member to borrow out DVDs - $21 a year with unlimited number of loans for the year, but you can check out 4 DVDs/music scores + another 4 books/magazines at any one time.

The video contains archival of Jason from 1986 to 1999 and includes his guitar clinic at the Atlanta Institute of Music, as well as, solo performances. It also includes footage with Cacophony and selected historical footage. It also show you how he push through beside going down with the lou greig disease that disabled him. Inspire of that, he still compose music and it is being used by a great ballet troupe. He did it by using his eye via a special machine that types using eye movement - created by his father, truly unbelievable (technologically speaking).

Check it out :-)

Jason Becker.. one of the legends who show that physical disability isnt can be overcome to continue making music. he's a friend of Marty Friedman and they once played together in the band Cacophony. should check them out if you're a fan of bands such as Racer X.
