omit 3rd??

Hi! i tried googling liao, but still cant find any results

What is a chord with omit 3rd in it?
For example G (omit 3rd) and D(omit 3rd), how to play them??

Don't play the 3rds in the chord. So just play G and D notes for the G chord and the B note is omitted. Which ends up something like a power chord with only the root and the 5th... What song is that got any reference to see?

Correct me if im wrong, haha my knowledge of theory is not very powerful...
