Nylon or chained pedal?

Hi all softies,

I have been playing drums for well, decently long enough and i still can't decide whether to get a nylon or a chain driven pedal. I feel that both have pros and cons. Nylon is silent and does not need lubricant. The response also quite fast.

Chain is slightly heavier, and requires lubricant. But it is more stable and durable than nylon...

Correct me if i am wrong, thats what i felt...

What do you think ppl? Should i get nylon or chain based on your experience and opinion?

Regards,
Jesper

Chain :) But Nylon is also damn good. But I rather stick to chains trustworth. I;m sorry i cant really help you only played with 2007 nylon rolling IC's once haha. So yea

Nylon or chain - is a very personal preference / taste - both are equally good - no problem just try it and see which suit you most....

Cheers

Thanks guys for the reply, I love both actually.

But if you are given a choice, which one would you get if you need to bring it often for gigs? and why?

CHAIN or NYLON!? AHHH! The dilemma is making me crazy.. LOL..

Cheers

Chain AND nylon :) yamaha pedals are interchangable (just need to unscrew a single lug using your drumkey)... and the nylon straps are provided.

personally i prefer chain for the more solid feel and the increased resistance... i don't mind playing on nylon, but i feel that the "floaty" feel that the nylon strap gives makes pedalling a bit odd.

but as someone mentioned before, its all about personal preference... try out both chain and nylon strap... no point getting something without trying to see if you like it.

Thanks alvyn but....

Guess what? I tested and like both feel of nylon and chain and i still can't decide..

SO yesterday I was outside swee lee.. I let fate decide the pedal i want to get...

*FLIP COIN*

I just spent $557 on TAMA IC Rolling glide...

Cannot be bothered for the swee lee end year sale ald.

actually i prefer direct drive pedals. they seem so much more stable. ludwig speedkings or the axis pedals are direct drives.

blurred direct drive means no last minute speeding up action is it? every movement is equal to force input right?

Yeah input = output... but apparantly yamaha flying dragons claim to be able to let u use a lesser amount of energy during your initial stroke, before levelling out. Meaning to say that the pedal travels FASTER initially before it hits the head. Dunno how zhun it is... or how much of a difference it'll make.

Anyway, personally i feel that DD pedals are very, very personalised. They may be the top-of-the-line pedals, but some people just can't get used to the feel. Personally, I hate DD pedals because of the lack of resistance in the pedals. A bit not used to it.

yeah, i tried before too... Maybe i am to used to nylon/chained driven pedals, thats why i don't really like them...

They just feel weird for me, don't have the homely feeling...

well, i am having so much fun with my IC rolling glide and loving it.

HEH!
