Nova Delay Vs Nova Repeater?

Can anyone tell me the differences between these 2 pedals? Function wise it seems more or less the same to me.

Nova Delay is designed as an all-round delay with some of the more interesting / unique delay types. It also has an LCD screen and can store 9 presets.

Nova Repeater is more of a no-nonsense pedal that just focuses on providing quality "normal" delays (although it can still do reverse, stereo etc). No LCD and I don't think it can store presets?

I don't know about unique delays, but no it can't store any presets. but it can go from really really analog, to pristine digital on all they types of delays it has, because of the tone knob, which the nova delay doesn't have. so imo the only difference is the presets versus the tone knob. And i think you're my buyer, aren't you? haha, hope you decide soon bro, really anticipating for a good reply from you :)

The Nova Delay has a "colour" knob that goes from tape to analog to digital. Not sure if it covers exactly the same range of tones as the Repeater, but the feature is there in some form.

ooooh. Nova Delay sounds like the thing for me. haha. but between the two which would you prefer? and would something like a Boss DD20 be able to compare with them?

Can't comment on the sound quality as I've never gotten to A/B them. Both have 23s of delay time. The Nova Delay has a better display (choose between BPM and milliseconds) and more presets. DD-20 only has 4 presets but it has a very basic looping function and some weird delay modes like Twist (hold down a footswitch and your delay rapidly increases in speed until it's a oscillating hum).

I think the Nova Delay is damn chio but can't afford one since I already have a DD-20 haha

If you're using them as delays, then, either should be good.
But if you want all the special effects and all that, just get an mfx.
No point looking for a delay, cause an mfx has it all.
I use the DD-20, it sounds good alright.

Well definitely not looking for Multi-fx cos sold my boss GT-8 a couple of months back, but looking for an upgrade to my Marshall Echohead.

Cool man. Which one would you think would be a better upgrade for my Marshall Echohead, comparing price and functions of both the Nova Delay and the DD20?

Yeah I saw the demo for DD20, pretty cool stuff, but hard to use live i guess. My friend thinks that the Nova Delay is definitely superior compared to DD20 because:
1)DD20 has been out for 10 years now (or so I heard) but hasnt been upgraded or improved
2) Tc Electronics is more reliable than boss
3) Pedals from Tc Electronics are of higher standards than Boss ( in terms of looks and sound i guess)

Hmm, cant remember the rest off the top of my head. What do you guys think?

DD-20 was released in 1995 I think. So definitely some older electronics. TC's stuff looks more modern to me as well. But I disagree that Boss is less reliable, they make some of the toughest (mass-produced) pedals around.

The features are similar enough that if you really want to compare you should try them both out. Some small details like how to set and change presets may suit you better on one than the other.

dd-20 came out round the same time as line 6 dl 4. Round year y2k/y2k1.

Round 95, boss delay in pedal format was the dd-3.

Reliability wise, depend on how much abuse given to the pedals. Boss pedals are generally known to last, be it the exterior casing or internally. Of course, across all electronic products, theres always room for failure and depending on luck, either brand product will fail if its meant to fail.

correct me if i'm wrong, i think there's some issue of true-bypassing and tone suck regarding the nova pedals.. i dont know a thing about it but im sure it exists. maybe someone can help elaborate on that?

if you can get a cheap dd20, just go for it. the dd20 is my favourite in terms of usability and simplicity. when i had the nova for a short period of time i find myself just using what i use on the dd20, so it depends on you.

imho the nova repeater is expensive.. an LCD display is a must if you really are into songs which require you to change settings on the fly and all.

Well, currently i'm playing more instrumental stuff, ranging from Dream Theater or John Petrucci, Paul Gilbert, to fusion stuff like Guthrie Govan and T-square and Casiopea. Which one would suit me better?
