I jsut got this EVJ valve head during the sales yesteday, today just got the speaker cables from tymusic. Everything works fine but i have some question

is it normal that i need to wait around 15-25 secs before the sound actually come out? I switched on the head but no sound come out from my cabinet until 15-25 secs later . . Also i played less than 30mins, maybe around 15-20mins, i touch the faceplate (the part where u plug in your guitar cable and volume and switch knot is), its actually warmish hot! not burning hot but sort of in the middle between hot and warm . .

i only notice the temp only when i was about to switch off, in the middle of the testing i did lined my toneport headphone output to my evj head to see how it sounds . . . ok this is frreaking me out

so basically i summarize out the possible causes
1) the diy cabinet?
2) the power supply wire (they didnt give me any, so i used those wires that u plug into computer psu)
3) the toneport headphone output (im not sure if you are not suppose to do that, but i used to plug the headphone output to my small sx amp all the time)

anyway here is a pics of my mini setup, seriously i really liked this setup, the sound arent that bad!

* oh yar after typing this finish, i touched the amp head (obviously i off the power, and pulled the plug out), its actually still alittle warm

It's perfectly normal for the head to get hot. The heat actually comes from the tubes.

As for the 15-25 seconds before the sound comes out, that is normal too. The tubes take a while to warm up. I would suggest you turn the master volume to zero and wait for a few mins before you start playing. By not letting the tubes warm up, you are actually shortening their lifespan.

So, no worries nothing is wrong, enjoy the epi valve jr it's awesome

its actually quite freaking scary, i didnt even crank it but it gets so warm man. phew, at least now i know its normal hehe thanks

LoL, its perfectly fine.

This tubes are suppose to get hot. Well, the tube HAVE to get hot before
you hear anything. Thats why you hear a ramping up of the volume.

Just a tip, just dont cover up the ventilation holes at the back of the head.
