hi there, me and my friends recently just started a band. we are quite noobie in the instruments as we are just starters.. so i wish someone could recommend me songs that newbies like us can play. pls do intro! it can be chinese, jazz, pop or blues! anything.. we've got a female vocalist, a drummer, 2 electric guitarist, 1 bassist and a keyboardist..

where's your level of confidence? believe in yourself...don't call yourself noobies. Start composing...after listening to alot of songs. Good luck!

we actually don't really know each other well, the only probs lies with the electric guitarist and vocalist. the vocalist can't go high, while the electric guitarist are still unsure of the chords. we are actually student.. joining a competition by school. so.. i would like someone to recommend me some songs which the pitch are not very high and the tabs for guitar are pretty basic one.

Yup, have confidence in yourself.

I started off with songs like "Dance, Dance" by Fall Out Boys, "Be Yourself" by Audioslave, "School of Rock" by Jack Black and "Smells like Teens Spirit" by Nirvana.

If you have guitarpro5, if will be easier to learn tabs. I learn how to play bass from guitarpro5.

dude , try out the song " radio " from alkaline trio , but only got guitar bass and drums , can add another guitar also lah , but timing must be same ah , if you need that song pm me or msn me lah .

maybe you would like to pick members with the same genre interest......then have a few bands selected out.....pick that few songs from the band..jam and have fun..l

sorry i think u guys shouldnt even think of composing when u guys are noobies. cover easy songs and learn your music theory. Learning how to read from tabs or scores is the basic thing. Get your music fundamentals right and after awhile learn how to improvise abit by ear or by music theory. Only when you have more knowledge about music then u start composing. Dont be like some "noob" bands just strum some gay chords and sing gay shiat over it and call that their "song". if u do that, ure really a noob. now ure learners, not noobs

Haha...tera giving free music lectures.....

try starting out with simple songs that dont really focus on your instruments skills...focus more on getting tighter.....instrument skills can go home prac one

yep. simple simple songs. these were some of the songs i remember learning with bands i played when we first started out.

nirvana - smells like teen spirit (grunge)
blink 182 - all the small things (pop punk)
the ataris - boys of summer (pop rock)
metallica - enter sandman (thrash metal)
jet - are you gonna be my girl (pop rock)
five for fighting - superman (pop)
u2 - with or without you (soft rock?)
dashboard confessional - vindicated (pop/rock)
the cranberries - zombie (rock)

most U2 songs are pretty easy, most All American Rejects songs are pretty easy too (though the vocalist goes pretty high). blink 182 songs are easy too.

you can also try playing classic acoustic/rock songs your own way- it's like songwriting but with a song already there. examples

knocking on heaven's door
leaving on a jet plane
rocking in the free world

that sort of thing

Maybe you guys can try out some punk rock songs from Greenday or Blink 182. As for keyboards i don't know maybe you can add keyboards inside :D Goodluck to your band

you dont really need to know music theory so comprehensively, just the basics will do, and u need to have a good ear of course, otherwise theres no point if you need inspiration look for this fella called billy sheehan, one of the best bassists in the world but he was self taught

and as for composing songs, find a musical direction you guys wanna take, then slowly write them part by part and let each member decide what to keep or what not and continue improvising and adding stuff on subsequent sessions until you know theres nothing more to add

go ultimate guitar surfing for songs that are easy to play... get guitar pro 5. very useful tool to get started off...

start off with punk rock, simple strumming of chords,i would advise greenday-whatsername

Nuh uh...what about the mini solo...for Green Day, beginners should start with Brain Stew. It's literally 5 chords only.
