What is your opinion on this song as compared to his previous works?

My personal opinion is...
althought the melody is a bit "preditable".
but it is still nice to be listen.
I like it.
Personally prefer english version (arranged by Nobuo Uematsu himself).
more sentimental...

its not the melody thats so predictable but rather the chord progression... i think i hear so much of those...
not that i dont like the song of course... i love nobuo
